I really liked the theme of the restaurant, but the service left a lot to be desired. We visited on a cold, quiet night and found the bartender missing when we arrived. There was very limited seating at the bar, and nowhere else to sit inside. As we awkwardly waited for the bartender to return, more customers showed up, many of whom ended up leaving. When she finally came back, she attended to other customers who had drinks while completely overlooking us, the new arrivals who were still sober. Eventually, we managed to get her attention, ordered our drinks, and then left. I'm giving this place two stars simply for the decor it's a very unique gothic themed bar with the worst cocktails ever. They were overpriced and I've never known a screwdriver to taste like cough syrup and wouldn't be able to drink it. Another kicker is New Orleans is notorious for not wanting any pictures taken inside their stores and restaurants kind of odd but ok so it's really hard to give reviews on places when you can't back them up with pictures all a person can go by is experience and word of mouth. My husband and I went in on a Sunday night, and I think we just hit it at the wrong time. When my husband asked the bartender about the history of the place and shared what he had read, she had no idea what he was talking about. She totally blew him off. I found one of the secret doors within the bar, but the space it led to was dark and not being used that night. There's supposedly another secret door that I did not find, and it's unfortunate that the bartender wasn't willing to engage us in the mystery of this place, because it would have made our visit a lot more fun. It's a great themed dive bar, so worth a stop if you come across it. Just be prepared for an experience. Or not.

This place is tiny. That was the major issue. It's down a long hallway and through a courtyard and that was all very cool, but the rest was a major letdown. I would have enjoyed the decor and ambience if it wasn't so claustrophobic. The small bar was all full and there's not much space to wait near it in the hope of managing to get a drink. We waited fifteen minutes and the bartender didn't even glance our way before we got tired of being crammed in and left. I visited the Dungeon back when it didn’t open until midnight, with hours from midnight to 8 AM. True to the spirit of New Orleans, the drinks were a bit pricey, and once you went upstairs, it was cramped and packed with people. There wasn’t even room for a stage up there, so there was no live music. I loved the divey atmosphere and punk rock vibe of the place during that time. It was dark and crowded, making it hard to see the quirky decor tucked away in the walls. Despite not spending the whole night there, I was really glad to have experienced the Dungeon.

My favorite right on my Nola trip! great music, reasonably priced drinks, the vibes are right. I absolutely love spooky horror themed stuff so if you're into that and rock metal then this is your place. Only thing that could be better is that it needs more seating

Photos are not permitted here, but it’s a fantastic dive bar, albeit a bit pricey. The space is small and cozy, capturing the essence of a dungeon, yet there are plenty of little corners to settle into. There's also a lovely courtyard to enjoy.

We love the Dungeon! No photos/videos, good music and reasonable drinks for NOLA. Bartender offered great referrals for late night food and waited on us quickly. Will always return! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Loved this bar so much that I visited twice on my trip to New Orleans. I love a good themed bar. The music selection on the jukebox is pretty perfect.

Well, I can say this. Memory was refreshed.... It's a great spot. Great alternative to the craziness on Bourbon street. Would visit again.
