Earlier this evening, we thought we'd give this place a go we heard it was under new management. We ordered garlic bread with cheese to start, and then chicken breast with a stilton sauce, mash and vegetables, as well as a steak and chicken burger with chips for the main course. The starter was fine. The presentation of the mains wasn't great, they both looked anaemic. Aesthetics aside, both meals were awful! The mashed potato with the chicken was cold. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and it was returned within a couple of minutes obviously blasted in the microwave. My family and I have visited this restaurant a few times and always loved it. However, our most recent visit was disappointing. After booking a table, we arrived to find that the staff seemed unaware of our reservation. We were seated and given the Sunday lunch menu, but were informed that there were only limited options available. We were also given the main menu to choose from. When our food arrived, I was shocked to see a decline in quality compared to our previous visits. I visited the Elephant with my mother for lunch on a week day recently and felt this venue deserved praise. We hadn't been out much due to Covid so we're a bit apprehensive but soon found out we didn't need to worry. We were warmly greeted at the entrance and shown to our table by a lovely young gentleman who's customer service was excellent thoughout our visit. He was extremely friendly and attentive. Our table had a screen separating it from other tables so we felt very safe. Their covid precautions are very well thought out. The staff at this restaurant were very friendly and efficient. However, the food did not meet their usual high standard. Despite our disappointment, we did not complain as we were hungry and ate the meal. The garlic bread was burnt around the edges, with cheese trying to cover it up. The fish dish was noticeably smaller than usual, with minimal batter and overcooked on the inside. The pork loin was dry, and the mashed potatoes were stodgy instead of creamy as before. The gravy was also not great. Unless the food quality and cooking improve to their previous excellence, we will not be returning anytime soon. Overall, we left feeling disappointed with our dining experience.

Visited the Elephant for Sunday lunch with my wife and family, greated very promptly by very pleasant lady, Covid measures taken very impressive having shielding between tables. Lunch was extremely well presented and served to us all hot and plentiful.Apparently under new management recently, nothing was to much trouble for the helpful attentive staff.In summary would most certainly recommend and will return again soon.Well done.
I had my first meal at this restaurant since the lock down restrictions were lifted, and it was absolutely fantastic. The food and drinks were fresh and all six members of our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We had a great time here and the staff was very accommodating, with necessary Covid precautions in place. We will definitely be returning regularly.
Really great, good quality food at the elephant and their response and measures implemented since COVID are great, feel really safe in their restaurant Depending on who is serving you service can be mixed but on the whole a great place to go.
Called for a spot of lunch .. and can highly recommend this place. Staff were very friendly.. the new manager came over to introduce himself, all Covid friendly felt very safe.the food was stop on definitely recommend this place ..
