The Express Tavern

We visit the Express Tavern regularly and have been having poor service for a while. This is due to ever changing staff and the calibre of staff going down. On this last visit the barman didn't listen (he had to turn the music down to even hear). I explained my low fat diet. My soup (supposed to be carrot but dark brown) was ok but my line caught tuna and sweetcorn sandwich without mayo was eventually changed because it contained mayo. There was also the option of tuna and mayo sandwich. Why two almost identical items on the same menu? Plus no-one in the bar knew what a line caught tuna sandwich was. Lovely find. I was staying not far from here in a solo trip and thought I’d give it a try. I was greeted by friendly staff and a VERY friendly dog I now know as Moby. I had one of the fruit beers on the kegs and then I had a bottle of the cider and some fries. Some of the locals spoke to me in this friendly pub and I had time to sit and read my book in a quiet corner. Something I have not managed to do in a long time. As someone who works in a pub it was great to see friendly staff, a clean environment and a great range of beers, ciders, wines and spirits. Lovely little area outside too if it’s a nice warm day!

I had a superb time here last Sunday. There is always a good range of well kept real ales on offer. On this particular occasion Timothy Taylor Landlord and Boltmaker were on as well as a beer from a York brewery. It felt like a mini Yorkshire beer festival. The roast lamb meal had everything, well cooked potatoes and vegetables with a magnificent Yorkshire pudding. There we go again! All the staff are hospitable and make you feel at home. And seeing Moby the pub dog is always a bonus. I should add the beers changed frequently here, however Bass and Big Smokes Solaris are like House beers.

First, we walked in and were promptly seated in a middle room of the restaurant, all alone.We discovered that all other people were seated in the back outdoor area as we watched people passing by. There were empty tables so no reason why we weren’t seated in the garden. The service was awful and the food was mediocre. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone unless you want to just grab a beer at the bar. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

We called in here after a long day walking around the Botanic Gardens at Kew. It's a great real ale pub with lots of choice and some nice cask ales, so we decided to stay for our evening meal. Hubby had pie of the day and was happy because it was an actual pie rather than just a puff pastry lid, and was very tasty, as was my meal.

We, a friend and I had lunch at the Express Tavern in Brentford. I had a vegetarian pizza and my friend had a steak. The food and service were good. However, we only eat at the Express as we were going to Kew Gardens and were in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at the Express Tavern in Brentford.

Intending to just have a few pints in the back “beer garden,” we ended up with some plates of fish&chips and eventually moved inside for some more ale! Loved everything about this place; quintessential English pub. It was everything we had hoped for

A good range of ales in good shape. Ciders were all fruit flavoured rubbish. Bar staff a bit inept. Didnt fancy eating there, its more if a boozer, which is fine if thats what you want Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Had a lovely impromptu meal for two, we were welcomed and well-received by the Staff; the Service following this was extremely good, as was the food !

Rubbish service the man with the man bun needs training as 2 people were overcharged for their drinks and food and his attitude was poor
