When I heard of the pop up restaurant called The Fat Bear, I immediately thought it was named after me, and so booked a table. It is located in the Rising Sun pub a very short walk away from St Paul's Cathedral. This was only my second experience with a pop up (I believe so anyway to be honest the only part of my body that remembers the food I have consumed is my stomach after the Three Compasses in Hoxton last year (where I watched Game of Thrones. this South American little gem is located above the rising sun pubs on carter lane in blackfriars. possessed by two English youngs, the two passions are eating and drinking mixed with their American chefs with baptism of the last london michelin star experience and this gives them this quirky pub feel it's room experience that is definitely worth a try! this southern American spot has picked up a small town backtreet, well hidden over a pub called the rising sun. there is little to give it away from the outside when they pass, so congratulate them to be in the know when they get there!. I am sure that the members of the boozy bunch with American roots are undoubtedly better qualified to talk about authentic South food. I'm afraid I can't tell them if the brisket tastes like it does in Texas or if they pour the way they should be done. but what I can say is that this is hearty (although perhaps not so good for her heart) that are done well by the south food. their website uses the word “soul enrichment” that seems quite apt although I would... really good service; polite, friendly and attentive. deep fried pickles sounds so wrong, but tastes so right. rack of ribs were finger licking good and the crab cakes were delicious. Brief wine list, perhaps a bit pricey, but interesting selection baked oreo cheesecake left me drooling all the way home

I'm so glad to have found the fat bear. I am from Texas and finally found a place to get quite authentic American food from the south. I could fix my chicken steak. it was great! also a fried alligator as starter. it was good. I can't wait to go back and try more elements on the menu.

This restaurant is not your typical tourist spot, with many locals frequenting the establishment. The atmosphere is very pleasant. A pint of pale ale costs 4.70£ and Guinness is 5£.

I really enjoyed this charming pub with a rich history. The bartenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the establishment.
