We booked a table months ago for Christmas Eve specifically in the bar not the restaurant as they advertised as dog friendly. We were turned away on one of the busiest days of the year as they wouldn’t let the dog in. The women actually said “you can sit outside”. Dogs can sit anywhere outside that doesn’t make it a dog friendly venue. They were extremely rude and almost ruined our plans for the afternoon on Christmas Eve. They should remove the dog friendly signage on the driveway. Luckily we got a table at the Great Western which was fantastic food and super friendly staff go there instead!
The restaurant struggles with large lunch bookings. The liver pate starter came with stale toast. The monkfish wrapped in bacon main was mediocre with overcooked fish, cold potatoes, and unrecognizable brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts seemed to have been cooked, frozen, and then served defrosted. The cheesecake was bland and gritty, and the melted ice cream was running all over the plate. My colleagues' dishes varied in quality, with some missing vegetables and others being nearly inedible. Overall, it was an expensive disappointment and I won't be returning.
We have been visiting the Ferryhill for 10 years. Tonight it was awful, we had booked a table in advance and given a tiny table in a corner we did get a move to be fair. The restaurant was so loud and noisy with deplorable language it was disgusting there was young children in the restaurant. When our meal came the fish had been put on top of cold reheated chips when I said to the waitress she asked if I wanted the food replated . I did not want reheated food I wanted fresh food. Our second stay in two years and as enjoyable as the last time. Charming hotel and staff. Not only one of the best hotels we stayed in on our 2 week trip but ALSO the best value for money- and breakfast! I left a jacket behind and they could not have been more helpful sorting its return. Quiet, peaceful and we had a great view from our window over the Aberdeen skyline. Room was too warm but set against all else, a minor point. I lived in A berdeen 15 years and ferryhill always was- and still is- a bit special.
My son visted this restaurant first time as full time wheel chair user went use toliets provided had ask table of people eating to move so get in ,over year and returning went go toilet only be met by same, people were very nice got up so go toliets ,I find it disgrace and disrespectful to all ,I'm going to return if I find not been changed to law,I will be getting health environmental involved ,not rocket science guys ,move money making table away make proper access
I was very disappointed to arrive and find that they no longer have it's own vegan menu. They said vegan items are included in the main menu,however they have removed the best options they had only just a few weeks ago such as the Tofu Katsu Curry and Buffalo Cauliflower wings. The Main options are now very disappointing, vegetable fajitas or a falafel burger, decided not to bother to left without ordering, a real backwards step.
I had a wonderful lunch with my family at this restaurant. The food is locally sourced, delicious, and served in generous portions. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed, with impeccable service. Our party of 7 enjoyed a fantastic evening at the bar. The chicken goujons were a hit with 3 of us, while the chicken burgers were delicious. The duck dish was especially succulent and deserves a special mention. Kudos to the kitchen team for a job well done.
