2 pm booking on a Sunday for 7 people inc two small children. Put Upstairs in a far corner table service poor and slow 30 minutes to get a first drink, had to ask for missing cutlery 3 times, similarly 3 times to get a jug of water. 40 minutes before we were able to order. 10 minutes after that we were advised ‘no beef left’ so 4 of us had to re choose. No beef at Sunday Lunch? After main course we left had been there just over 2 hours. On way down stairs, after paying, we were then asked if we wanted pudding.… Advice book for earlier and get a table downstairs where more staff are situated. Food whe it came was good be patient.
We popped in for a quick drink before our reservation at another resturant. We were greated by John and another lady didn't catch her name. They were so pleasant and the food looked good, we decided to go the next day for Sunday lunch with friends . We were not disappointed lunch was lovely we all had beef and really enjoyed it. My friend isn't well at the moment and is struggling to eat normal size portions . When we explained it they were very happy for her to have a smaller child's size portion. That was perfect. We all had deserts and throughly enjoyed them as well. Well done guys it was a lovely experience.
Update 04/07/2024: First visit for over 2 years. We were placed at a 1st floor table, same as last time, with the advantage of toilets just along the corridor! We ordered starters of calamari and tempura vegetables. The veg was lovely and plentiful and, altho' the calamari rings were good, there weren't enough for £9.25. We both had chicken schnitzel with sweet potato fries and a little side salad which we enjoyed but I thought the chicken was too thick for a schnitzel and it was served with a cheese sauce
Undoubtedly the best pub in Wells for interesting food options and a well curated drinks menu. Friendly and efficient service team, and unusually for Wells, sensible parking arrangements. Great interior decor, with hints to gastronomy from France. Loved it Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Impeccable all round. The food was exquisite. The vegan option was amazing. Great food great service....Great drinks...thank you...amazing all round..Best food we have had for a while.
Good pub grub, pleasant atmosphere and free parking in pay car park across the road. (ask for ticket at bar)
