We stayed here whilst walking the Pennine Way, getting the bus service down from Burn Clough. We stayed overnight and found the rooms to be immaculate, well fitted out, and quiet. The chef was ill the night we stayed, so I cannot comment on the food, but the manager let us buy fish and chips from across the road to eat in the pub. The full English breakfast was served from 8 o'clock, and it was superb. Finally, the manager gave a lift when we had finished packing our bags in the morning. It seemed like nothing was too much trouble, and he wanted to make sure we had a pleasant stay.
We’re moored close by so called before visiting to see what was going on that Friday night. Staff were really helpful on the phone and also when we visited. Local pub vibe with really friendly staff and patrons. Had some lovely food with my daughter and dog which arrived timely and was delicious. Nice ales (just two on offer, one amber and neck oil IPA) on pump. All made to feel welcome (did I say that already), few friendly dogs milling around. Overall would recommend. Especially for boaters passing through.
My partner and myself have just returned from a fantastic 2 course meal at this little treasure of a pub. The 3 for £10 starters were presented beautifully and were delicious, and our main courses were equally impressive. The portions were extremely generous, the landlord and the young lady on the bar were extremely friendly and helpful, the chef was lovely and everything was just perfect. One of the best meals out we've had for a long time!
Popped in after doing the Halloween trail, it’s ok typical village boozer really. You can spot the locals a mile off and the tv sport coverage is pretty poor (jumpy etc) but that said I got a drink and it was reasonably priced plus I used the car park all day for the trail so yeah not bad. Easy going, fun and lively staff members! A place for family, friends and your pets too. We had a lovely dinner after a long walk and couldn’t suggest a better place for a day out with family and friends, don’t forget your pets to!
The atmosphere here is very lively and friendly, the bar staff are very friendly and easy to communicate with. It is a nice environment to have a drink and a laugh with your friends. Definitely recommend!!!
this is the one place, the new renter and dame and spent a lot of time to the pub immaculate it is a fresh and clean, completely inward and outside. I don't want the best for the rest of the world

very nice and cozy little pub. eating was good and not expensive. the owners and the bartender were so friendly and welcoming. we're coming back.
