as a disclaimer--I will rarely focus on a bad treatment, but to warn others, if customers are treated like an inconvenience, I will let others know about the experience. after a walk at the seaside we decided to take a coffee to warm up. it was 4:15 o'clock and given the condition of the world in these days we thought we would wash our hands before we broke in to enjoy something with (try them a snack with the coffee we said that the washroom was closed - a sign that the washroom was only named for customers - we ordered our coffee and then asked for the washroom. we said that the washroom was closed because the place would soon be closed. the closing time was 5pm-45 minutes when we entered....
I recently attempted to stop by Green Star Cafe after a long day at work on the way to the lake for the weekend. I had planned to grab a coffee to go before heading to Harrison Lake. Unfortunately, when I tried to enter and order a coffee, I was informed that I could not bring my stroller inside. The young lady working at the counter was quite rude in her tone and simply repeated that strollers were not allowed. When I asked for the reason behind this rule, she mentioned that the cafe was too crowded with strollers. This was surprising to me as it was after the peak season and there were only a few other customers present. I was only looking to grab a quick coffee to go, not to sit and dine...
We were waiting in front of the ice cream to get served, after 2 mins no one was there to serve us. Went up to the counter and asked to use the bathroom, the man in a rude tone said are you a customer I...said ya we wanted to buy ice cream and have been waiting Then we left. We may have gone back multiple times and gotten coffee there. Not with that attitude, not only were we not acknowledged when we walked in but just totally rude customer service!! No one should be treated that way!
we were so happy with the service here! we stopped in the near closing time and ordered a lemon and a grapefruit ice cream. they are homemade and delicious! the owner knows what she does. I'm pretty sure that she's on her own...so the caffe must be closed when she needs a break when they see the 'back in ten minutes' sign, they come back; it is worth it!
While camping in the area decided to hit town for coffee and a snack. This cafe has only a couple of coffees reg and decaf. The snacks look like they were bought last week at Costco and tasted like they were. For a resort...area I guess to be expected as they probably don't see locals who might give them feedback. Save your money and try somewhere else.
I often ride my motorcycle out to Harrison Hot Springs and the Green Star Cafe is my stop for coffee. I often enjoy a soup and sandwich as well. My favourite sandwich is a toasted chicken salad sandwich with a bowl of homemade soup. I...always receive friendly good service from the staff. They offer homemade fudge and ice cream cones are available.
We visited this restaurant twice during our trip, first for coffee and then the next day for a sandwich. The decor is very nostalgic and they do have some strict rules regarding table use and restroom access. However, the coffee and food were satisfactory. Both times we chose to sit outside and found the atmosphere to be quite calm and relaxed.
We stopped by for breakfast, and there only seemed to be two staff, one taking orders, one at a time, with no recognition for the next customer until it was your turn; and one cooking and bringing the orders out. We waited awhile for service,...then for our food, but it was good.
The coffee at this restaurant is the best in the area, and the service is great as well! I tried the caramel latte and it was one of the best I had during my trip. It was much better than the one I had at Ms. Margaret's in Harrison Springs Hotel.
