After being to Grill Pit several times in the past throughly enjoying the food at atmosphere every time, we decided to visit again. Unfortunately we were very let down with their new premises (which is in a pub, had we have known we wouldnt have driven from Leeds), and the service. The food wasn 't up to its previous standards either. Expecting a nice meal with my partner and another couple we found the music in the bar was too loud to actually speak to each other without shouting loudly. The service was not great. Staff pulled masks down to speak to us and encroached on personal space several times. The cutlery given was dirty 3 times, sent back each time only to be brought more dirty cutle...
I am surprised by the number of people complaining about the lively atmosphere of this venue. It is evident as soon as you walk in that this is a somewhat loud sports bar, so why sit down and order if that's going to be an issue? Regardless, I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat while enjoying some daytime drinks. We weren't very hungry and weren't sure what we wanted, so we ordered a few small dishes. Everything was incredibly tasty and very reasonably priced. In fact, it was so good that we ended up ordering takeout from them the following weekend. We will definitely be returning!
The food and drinks at this restaurant were excellent, and the service was very fast. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and we enjoyed trying a mixture of them. I would highly recommend the chicken tikka kebab and biscoff sticky toffee pudding. The onion rings were the only disappointment as they were too salty to eat, but overall the experience was fantastic. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We had pre-booked a table but ended up waiting for 15 minutes before going to the bar to ask for a menu. We were told that the restaurant was too busy to serve food at that time. After speaking to a staff member who was busy serving another table, we were told that we could come back in half an hour when things had slowed down. Unfortunately, we had to go elsewhere for our meal. Disappointing experience.
I'd of wrote this review on justeat but I was unable to. Ordered from here twice now and both times its been delicious! Second time ordering chips were missing, driver said he'd mention it, we never thought much of it, 5mins later and our chips and pancakes arrive as an apology for missing them! Fantastic service! Best home made chips I've ever had aswel well done!
Came here last night with a few friends for some food and drinks. Staff were attentive, great selection of beers available and the food was spot on. I’ve been to Counting House a fair few times only for drinks and it’s always got a good atmosphere, but last night was the first time I’ve eaten here. Really good burgers and will definitely be returning.
OK so I'm not a sports fan particularly, but am a hungry meat eater staying in a cheap hotel. Was looking for something simple, but almost everything was covered in some sort of sauce. Opted for ribs thinking they could not be that bad should have been re named grissles not very pleasant at all. Add to that, the loud atmosphere wouldn't recommend.

Went for food, didn’t get sat down for 10 mins then didn’t get asked for a drink for 20 mins. Walked out, don’t know how you can run a place that doesn’t even ask you for a drink when you sit down. Absolutely useless
Was staying in Wakefield overnight and came across the counting house Was very pleasantly surprised by the menu and quality and enormous quantity of food on order. Great atmosphere And great value for money
