This is a fairly large hotel with the hotel entrance tucked away at the end of a street off the A5. The bar entrance is on Bridge Street and internally it feels exactly like what it is, a dated hotel bar. But it’s key selling point is the outside drinking area opposite on the side of the River Dee. It’s always had a fairly decent terraced garden space out front but they have now plonked a **** great decking on stilts over the top of it, and although a small section of the lower garden part still exists with a couple of tables this decking , equipped with its own small bar, is the place to be when the weather is fine. We were extremely disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. We had booked a room for our special anniversary back in February and specifically requested a quiet riverside room away from the main stairs. However, we were given room 17, which was located right opposite the stairwell and was a small, cramped space. It was disappointing to see that they had much nicer rooms available. The manager apologized and offered a small discount, but it was not enough to make up for the disappointment. The restaurant needs to pay more attention to customer requests in the future.
The restaurant is located in a great spot and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the hotel itself is really in need of a renovation. The toilets were not working properly in both our room and the ones near the bar. The breakfast was delicious, but the dinner meals were disappointing. The liver I ordered was tough and the curry was bland. It's a shame because with some updates and a new chef, this place could be amazing.
This hotel is central for Llangollen with a good sized car park. We enjoyed the breakfasts, the entertainment on Saturday night and welcoming staff. The outside terrace was much enjoyed in the hot weather and our room clean and comfortable. A little small but contained everything we needed, including a good en-suite with bath and shower. We had a wonderful experience at this hotel with a lovely room overlooking the water. The food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating. Despite being a 3-star hotel, I would rate it as a 5-star overall. It is definitely worth a visit as it is centrally located and has parking available. Thank you for a memorable stay!
See the review in the Mail on Sunday and looked good. So booked it, Must say one of the most lovely pub/hotels me and my wife have been to since lockdown finished. The staff made us feel welcome,the food was great and the countryside was beautiful. Definitely will be back. Thanks.
We stayed here for 3 nights in July heat wave and had a pleasant time.Plenty of choice at very adequate breakfast .Location of hotel is excellent in town centre with sufficient private car parking.Outdoor area overlooking the river is a nice feature.
