We came to The Kings Arms for our works Christmas party. Booking it was easy and communication was brilliant. We were a group of 43 and we had the silver buffet package. The food was great and everyone commented on how good it was. The Rock and Roll bingo was so much fun and it was great being able to do different genres. All of the staff were so attentive, checkin we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We even managed to find an area for a dance! An excellent evening had by all, we will definitely be back again.
Lovely pub inside and very cosy. Was very busy but a nice crowd. They welcome dogs inside which is nice as limited town centre pubs and restaurants allow dogs. I ordered a salad for lunch that was supposed to come out with sweet potato wedges, it didn't. Literally had about 4 tiny squares within the mainly leaf dish. Was still hungry after eating it. Looked short staffed with just two young ladies rushing about.
I will not be returning to this restaurant after a unpleasant experience. When I entered with my husband, a man confronted me demanding to see my ID without introducing himself or explaining why. I felt uncomfortable being cornered by a stranger, but complied with his request. I was fortunate that my husband was unaware of the situation, as he would have intervened if he had noticed my discomfort.
Booked for our Christmas meal out. Lovely atmosphere, family run pub in the centre of town. Food was fantastic and great value for money. Staff couldn’t have been more accomodating for our large table. Great range of drinks and food options. Gluten free brownie was The outside area is spacious and heated too which was a bonus! Will definitely be booking again next year. Thanks guys!

This restaurant has been transformed into a modern space from an older pub, but it is a shame that it was done by Greene King. The atmosphere is comfortable, but it feels more like an American interpretation of an English pub. The downside is that they only serve Greene King beer. Apart from that, it is an okay place.
Thank you so much for making our Christmas Day lunch at the Kings Arms just as we wanted it to be. Everything was perfect from the atmosphere, food and service all through the afternoon. Well done everyone involved!!
One pint of Estrella and one pint of Peroni £12.65. London prices in Colchester. Church street tavern was 2 pints of Helles for £9.50. Kings Arms no need for this level of pricing. Won’t return.
Lovely pub with great staff. Family run, child and dog friendly- we love popping in for drinks, lunches, meeting friends.. it’s our favourite local!

The restaurant was packed with mostly older patrons by 10 PM, not exactly a hotspot for young people, but it does have a large outdoor garden.
