We came on a busy bank holiday Monday so made some allowances for the fact on the kids menu there only the chicken goujons and fish chips available. Also the food took 1hour 30 to be delivered . The portion of the food is small . Kids fish and chips the fish was no bigger than a chicken nugget ,only 1 piece given I got the toad In the hole at £16 I expected more than 3 sausages sticking out of a Yorkshire pudding obviously off the Sunday the mash tasted like smash and a very watery gravy not the onion gravy as described . Went for Sunday lunch due to good reviews and recommendations. This was for family members birthday. We are not complainers as a rule so this is unusual for us. Sunday lunch was overpriced for what we got. Beef was **** and soaking into mashed potato sister had to have it replaced for better cooked if this is how meat is served normally this is noted on menu for people's choice of taste. Vegetables cold by the time they arrived were hardly cooked never had to saw a carrot before and cabbage was bitter and hard to chew looked like it had just been put in water or steamer and taken straight out. I went to this restaurant with my two siblings and sister-in-law for a late Sunday lunch. We arrived at around 4 p.m. and found the place to be not very busy. We checked out the Sunday lunch options, chose a table, ordered drinks, and then ordered our food at the bar. We had two beef, one pork, and one turkey Sunday lunches, all of which came in generous portions accompanied by a large dish of assorted vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. After that, we had to muster up the willpower to choose from the extensive dessert menu. Overall, we thought the venue was nice and the staff were very pleasant and attentive.
I recently went back to this restaurant for lunch on a weekday. My wife ordered Wild mushrooms on toast, which came on a piece of cheap white bread that was not sourdough, and the mushrooms were undercooked. I decided to try the Haggis rarebit toast, but was disappointed to receive a plate with cheap white bread and dried up toppings. Overall, our experience with the food here has been disappointing. We have found that dishes other than fish and chips or scampi and chips are not worth ordering, including the Sunday roasts which are overpriced and not satisfying.

We spent just over £50 on a monkfish and prawn curry that only came with four prawns and no monkfish, as well as a toad in the hole dish with three burnt sausages and a hard Yorkshire pudding. For dessert, we received three half scoops of melted ice cream. We typically visit this pub regularly, but after last night's pricey disappointment, we will be exploring other pubs that serve higher quality food.
We were looking to eat at a warm, cosy pub and chose here. Big mistake, it was absolutely freezing and the food was pretty poor too! The broccoli was so chewy my son could've been sick! We should've realised that something was amiss, when we looked around people were sitting eating with their hats and coats on! The radiators were stone cold eventhough it's November.

Excellent food, friendly and efficient staff but disappointed by the lack of choice of real ales on offer. Website says regular guest ales but there was only Doombar on the pumps

Food was terrible. Worst fish and chips I can remember. Batter was soggy with hardly any fish inside. Staff didn't seem bothered.
