Red beans and rice didn't miss this girl! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and finally got it done today, so glad I did and definitely will be going back. I love the fact that they give out a sampling of their Gumbo and Cajun classics so you are never disappointed with what you order. I ended up with the Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice and Chicken and Sausage. All three were very tasty and filling. The gator bites were excessively salty, which was off-putting. When our main dishes arrived, I was shocked by the portion sizes. I received just three pieces of fish, a few small oysters, two or three hush puppies, and three shrimp. For the price we paid, I was very dissatisfied with the portions. I understand that prices have gone up due to inflation, but I felt that this meal did not justify the cost of $65.65. We could have gone to Mayflower for a much fuller experience. It seems like there’s a one-drink limit at this restaurant, as we had to request a refill after our cups sat empty on the side of the table for over 15 minutes. Meanwhile, one server was chatting with a walk-in customer, while the other had his back to us, facing the cook. This was by far the worst experience I've had. I stopped by for lunch again while traveling to Durham. I ordered the shrimp Po Boy and a cup of chicken gumbo. Both dishes were fantastic! The Po Boy was generously filled with medium-sized shrimp, and the chicken gumbo was absolutely delicious. I can't wait for my next visit!
