At first glance Malaga Drift looks nothing special. Italics be all too easy to walk by and perhaps go to a prettier place. This would be a HUGE mistake as it is a real delight. Where to begin, well it was a place that I had been meaning to try for ages, having heard decent reports of it but never seemed to get round to it, (I don 't know about you, but I always have a list of places I keep meaning to try but never quite get to . Thankfully owner Gordon and the Malaga Drift have survived Lockdown. I come here often to play chess and usually have a Hot chocolate and a pizza of some sort. Sometimes a cake but always good value. Eccles chess club meet here on a Wednesday, all levels of player will get a game, Secretary, Barbara, makes sure of that! A very homely place, good value. In Italy it would be a tratoria.
Had an hour to spare and thought would just pop in here. What a great place, very comfortable and so welcoming and friendly from the staff to the customers. A lovely atmosphere, warm, cosy and relaxing. We stayed longer than planned and would have happily stayed longer but we had something booked. We will definitely return.
Have been in over the years and always been made to feel extremely uncomfortable! The owner has always made me my friends and my son extremely unwelcome. I often go here on a Wednesday for regular chess club. Very good value pizza. Beer range not great on cask but some good 'Coachouse ' from Warrington ,bottled offerings. I had 'Gunpowder mild. Big Eccles cakes to buy. This place is CHEAP and (very) CHEERFUL.
In for tea.and coffee as the rail service was so awful a common occurrence, it seems. Had already noticed the intriguing name. Very cosy, hospitable place and extremely reasonable prices :
Great little spot near the train station. Very friendly owner, good coffee and a decent price. It's a bit of a community hub and worth a visit

Great little place. Go at least once a week when shopping in eccles. Lovely atmosphere and different events each night. Licensed also.
