On the plus side, great location close to downtown and all those amenities. The end. Otherwise, we don 't feel like we got a lot of bang for our bucks. Room was spacious, bed was adequate but only one lonely chair for seating. Other furnishings were mostly useless, and there 's certainly enough space in the room for a small table and chairs or maybe a loveseat and ottoman. For comfort and ambience. Small, tight bathroom with a tub shower and no grab bars. Lots of creaky floor noise from upstairs guest. Our second night featured persistent mechanical noise coming from...somewhere outside. It suddenly stopped in the morning before our departure but was not conducive to sound sleep. Continental...
Update: the General Manager, Ken Floyd, promptly contacted me and offered a complimentary meal due to the service we received. He indicated that these issues were corrected with additional training. I'm very satisfied and grateful that he did the right thing. Every restaurant deserves a chance to make things right. So I'm updating my review to 4 stars until we come back, which we will. I justify this based on the very good meals we did enjoy, my wife's Black Sea Bass over Quinoa, and my Southern-Style Fried Chicken with Haricot Ver and Crispy Red Potatoes. Our Carrot Cake dessert was also very good. So, give them a try and let's hope their service issues are fixed!
We have not stayed at this restaurant yet, but we will be visiting in October. The service provided by Phillip was excellent! I had to call him twice to make some changes, and Phillip was very friendly and never made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. He has a great personality and made me feel comfortable during our conversations. After reading the reviews, we are very excited to stay here. This was such an adorable and authentic hotel with great walking access to most everything in Black Mountain's downtown area. The breakfast was terrific, and the common room (complete with a full bar) with the courtyard was spacious and welcoming. My only (very small) matter was that the small room did not have an overhead fan or AC control. They did remedy that with a box fan in the closet, which we used for circulation. I don't understand why this hotel has such high ratings. Despite being a historic landmark, it is in desperate need of renovations in order to continue accommodating paying guests. There is no elevator, our room had discolored water coming from the shower, visible water damage near the ceiling, lack of control over heating/cooling, broken blinds, sheer curtains, mostly IKEA furniture, no TV, a creaky bed, and poor soundproofing. We stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor and really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room to spread out and the views from all rooms were amazing. So convenient to the cute downtown area but also Camp Rockmont where our boys were. The staff was great and accommodations were truly delightful. Restaurant was great for dinner. Had our first Valentine's Day dinner there. The food was great, service was friendly, and the atmosphere was very nice. Quiet table by the fireplace and then cocktails outside in the outdoor lounging area which also has a nice gas fire going all the time.
I adore dining on the patio at this restaurant, the servers are fantastic, and the food is delicious! My go-to dish is the shrimp and grits, and they also offer a great variety of beers, including non-alcoholic options. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Ate there for a staff event. The food was catered by the hotel. The food was very good, and was served warm. We ran out of water, and nobody ever checked in with us. However, it was quite an enjoyable experience!
