We only booked for 2 but they fitted in our two extras guests without to much hassle. It's a pub type atmosphere so busy but the main drinking area was separated from the dining area so no problem there either except when I tried to order a drink - staff seemed to look past me so one drink took just over 15 minutes to get so I didn't bother ordering another. Not a huge menu to select from but had the usual - no garlic bread but garlic pizza instead which was good. I ordered Beef & Reef medium rare with veggies, great size meal but the steak was a little under done - just too much blood on the plate I feel. This little pub has SO much potential. Whilst I think their counter meals are truly great value, true, it's plain fare, but there is a place for this kind of budget value pub food. Whilst there is something charming and old world pub about this place, they could lift it to a new level. The little restaurant out the back of the lounge bar is quaint, but why they don't use the light filled empty cafe at the front I can not fathom? The dark facade at the front so needs a facelift, it does not feel welcoming. What a classic building, it just screams for a clean up and paint job. Truly an architectural gem in Moonah's blossoming main strip.BTW...Who ever had the idea to put a weird pastel coloure...
Stopped in to see if they did a counter meal/pub meal ..what a pleasant surprise it was...has been done up a bit a few years back and is holding itself well...the meals were well priced and good quality...there is a specials board for seniors and looking at it I was a bit disappointed to be missing out by a couple of years...service was good and overall we had a pleasant hour or so there...background tele played 70/80 music which suited most of the diners...all in all a decent meal for a decent price in a decent pub.
I really enjoyed my vege lasagne, it was great. However, my wife had a pathetic seafood dish that was mostly rice and sauce. She was quite disappointed. Along the way our order got lost but they managed to cover this off ok. We did mention our thoughts to the staff but they struggled to do much more than say they would speak to the chef. YMMV

I have enjoyed the food at The Moonah Hotel in the past, but I was most disappointed with the surf and turf that my wife and I had this time.The steak was gristly and generally not pleasant and the sauce on the seafood basically just tasted like cream - little in the way of garlic or other seasoning. On the plus side, the chips were good.
we had the roast of the day namely pork. It was good and the price was reasonable. We had red wine to accompany same (a bottle shared by 3 of us) and it was of good quality. Compared to other places of same category the price of meals were reasonable for a good meal.
I came in with the i tent to use an entertainment book voucher and was told that the new management wasnt excepting them. So i wasnt to impressed by this. My meal was nice but i was still hungry afterwards. The waitress was very nice and friendly.

Service was extremely friendly, fast and efficient. A decent pub meal. Both my partner and I enjoyed our meals. Would be happy to go back next time we are in the area.
We were all happy with meals. Nicely cooked and plenty of it. Underwhelmed with untrained staff and poor choice of wines.
