I want to start off by saying that I used to work at this restaurant, and the manager Cheryl treated me very poorly. One time, I had to pick up cigarette butts off the ground with my bare hands, and when I asked if I could go get a litter picker from the shop nearby, I was told no. They didn't even allow me to use gloves. I was always blamed for any mistakes, even if I wasn't working that day. I was never given a share of the tips, unlike the other staff. I found hair in my food on two occasions, but when I raised the issue, I was told to be quiet about it. This pub provided the worst dining experience I have ever encountered. The food was awful; I discovered a large black hair in my mashed potatoes, which were like a pile of lumpy potatoes. The meat was all fat, the parsnips were undercooked, and the roast potatoes were overcooked in the deep fryer to the point where my fiancé broke a filling. When I requested to speak with the manager, Cheryl approached me and accused me of bringing my own meat to make her establishment look bad. She was extremely rude and I refused to pay for the meals that were left uneaten. After my last visit here i decided to give it one last try, the thing i noticed about the landlady (Cheryl) is that she definately treats people differently she knows, i only pop in the odd time here and there and she always seems off with me, yet if someone who she is on first name terms with walks in she talks to them much better. She has a serious attitude problem and even a simple request such as turn the jukebox up or can you put the pool table light on is met with a scowl, but to be fair i think that might just be her normal resting face, i’ve got friends who no longer use the place because she is such an unpleasant lady, there are much better options nearby, and i won’t be returning.
I have been coming to this restaurant every day for the past 15 years. If only these walls could speak! Cheryl is absolutely delightful and always greets me by my first and middle name. The Yorkshire puddings taste like they were made by Aunt Bessie herself, and the mashed potatoes are creamier than yogurt. Overall, a fantastic place. - Nathan Hirrell

Popped in here for a quick pint after work before all the pubs closed down due to CV-19, not been in here in over a year and was hoping Cheryl had left, no such luck, its still behind the bar with its foul mouth, had a quick pint and left. Can’t be doing with her tirade of foul language, i’ll try again in a another year.
I have seen this place many a time, and took the chance to pop in recently. By god, what a dump! I can barely believe that a place like this, with it's terrible environment and beer, can survive. In the name of British pubbery, give it up! I have never drank in a worse pub in my life.
I was intrigued by the idea of visiting this place at the pirate naval park until we drove past and realized it was on the other side. However, it turned out to be a really nice pub with a lovely garden and great staff.
I love it here! As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt welcome. The staff are great and the atmosphere is brilliant. My favourite pub in wigston!

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly. It’s a spacious family pub that accommodates large gatherings perfectly.
The atmosphere is beautiful, and the beer is great. The only downside is that there are some difficulties when paying with a card.
