Since March 23 this pub has been operating under a sub lease from Star Inns (Heineken been sublet to a pub company (WJS who in turn install managers, so 3 businesses trying to take revenue from one country pub. This has been a disaster for our village, we are on our 5th management team since March and we all hope the middle men WJS just disappear, they are the problem in the equation and continue to be so. However The current management team of Andy and Laura are doing a magnificent job. The pub is now clean, the food menu has been brilliantly refreshed with some magnificent seafood specials and they have recruited a very good team. In short Andy and Laura have massively turned this business...
This used to be our favourite lunch spot until everything changed earlier this year. After a poor experience a few months back we gave up. However the latest reviews looked promising so we dropped in for lunch today. What a difference, lovely warm fire in a clean bar, clean tables, great service from the guy behind the bar and great beer. The menu is much smaller than before but there were a few specials on the board . My seafood platter was huge and absolutely delicious. Hubby had the corned beef pie on the specials and he really enjoyed it. Prices are very reasonable too. We were hoping they would be putting on a Christmas menu through December but apparently not. I hope they reconsider as...
Right. This pub used to be excellent, like, really excellent. Great great food, great beer, great staff. Proper job. Now, it's terrible. We've twice been booked in only to have them cancel last minute (one time we actually turned up only to be told they had booked a band in instead and so we couldn't eat). Food is sub par, service is less than average. The landlord (I assume it was the landlord, the person in charge anyway), was rude and dismissive and to be honest, we felt that they felt that they were doing us a favour by letting us into their pub. Rubbish, such a shame as it was once fabulous.
I agree 100% with Brookfield63, for the first time in 8 months the New Inn have a landlord and landlady who are a credit to themselves. Andy and Laura are so hard working they deserve every success. The food looks fantastic, the beer is spot on and the place is slowly get cleaned after 8 months of neglect. I just hope that WJS Pub Company give them all the support they need during these difficult times in the licensed trade, if not WJS deserved to be drummed out of business.

Super dog friendly pub. Just popped in for a swift drink ,great pint. We have a Great Dane and he was treated like a celebrity by the staff the locals and the fantastic land lady. The food looked and smelt delicious. We didn't have time to eat but Boss the Dane was presented a taster plate of roast beef with two Yorkshire puddings...yummy... Cheers Martin Sara and Boss
Will never return! Just went in for a couple of drinks, for a start there was a girl on the bar alone who looked no older than 16. I thought this was disgusting. The pub was dirty full of smoke. I certainly won’t be going again. This used to be a lovely pub what has happened.
Do not stay at this pub . The landlords were vile, and the pub is dirty and there were flies everywhere. The landlord made offensive jokes and the landlady was very rude and dismissive We have visited several times in the past under different landlords but won’t be back
Landlord and landlady couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Food was 10/10 and the cottage we stayed in was clean tidy and comfortable. Great atmosphere and friendly stay. Will be back.
