The New Lanterns - Tisch reservieren

When I order a roast...I want sweet, dark, roasted carrots, parsnips and crisp roasties coated in meat juices from the roasting tray. I want stuffing and maybe some kale sautéed in garlic butter with fresh ground pepper and most importantly some nice browned roasted meat with herbs. What I got was machine sliced wafer thin boiled beef, boiled veg, boiled veg turned into watery mash, boiled/steamed kale, some roasties and a yorkshire pudding. I like the idea of being able to see the live cooking but seeing the microwaves being used so often takes away from the experience. It all felt a bit lazy and like corners had been cut, sorry.

First time ever visiting this place and it won’t be the last! I had halloumi fries and a halloumi burger. My bf had the prawns/shrimp and then the steak, which was fillet and gorgeous! No fat or gristle at all! Perfect throughout. My burger was good, as were the halloumi fries. I think I’m going to go for the garlic chicken next time as I spied that on another table and it looked beautiful. Staff were fantastic.

Didn't have a problem with the food,I live in Plymouth and have been to lanterns many times (my favourite restaurant not anymore)

The food was superb and great value for money. The service was good, especially as it was busy!
