This USED to be a great value place to eat and drink. BUT now it’s really downgraded. Don’t get me wrong if you enjoy the staffs screaming kids running around bumping into to you then its the place to go. The food used to be hot tasty and a realistic price but now its all frozen veg overpriced small cold portions and pricey beers. The toilets always stink. Still no lock on the ladies door. The outside area is always a drab mess which when nice weather has the same kids kicking footballs about. The staff always look miserable and non helpful and treat it as a family crèche and family gathering event rather than immerse themselves into what could be a rather profitable business. We reserved a spot in the car park for our motorhome to stay overnight, which was free as long as we spent money in the pub. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday carvery and were happy to find that dogs were allowed in the pub and the beer garden. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place.
On the night I went most customers were locals under 40. Lively atmosphere. Food was ok and good value. I had the homemade chilli, I'd have liked it spicier or some hot sauce available, but it was definitely home made from good ingredients.
The pub was just okay, but it lacked atmosphere and had a very limited drink selection. They were out of both beer and Guinness when I visited, so you could say it was a pub with no beer. There are definitely better pubs in Thirsk.

A charming pub and very dog friendly. The two ladies who ran everything the day we were in were beyond delightful. We both had egg salad sandwiches. Yummy! Hope to get back there....and next time a home made baked goods.
The pub was fantastic, with excellent service. It was dog-friendly, which was great, and they had the game playing on the TV.
Had a fabulous lunch here. Everything was hot and the salad was fresh. Chicken so juicy and tasty. Will be back
