Thank you Old Stamp House for a lovely, luxurious, dining experience. We were made to feel most welcome from start to finishby all the staff. The food was exceptional. We opted for the paired wine choice, Craig was very helpful with his explanations relating to each wine.and for us the pairings really seemed to work. The tasting menu was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The owner made a special effort to visit each table, which made us feel right at home. Standout dishes included foraged mushrooms with egg yolk and truffle, salt-aged duck, and a delightful dessert featuring gingerbread, bee pollen, marigold, and sweet cheese mousse. While it’s not on the cheaper side, it’s definitely worth indulging for a special occasion. Food rating: 5.
The food here is outstanding throughout the tasting menu (the beetroot meringue and the trout were our favourite). The personal notes from the chef was insightful and really enhanced the experience. The service is professional and attentive, but still remains warm friendly. This has been a highlight of our Lake District trip, and the restaurant definitely deserves its Michelin star.
This was our first experience dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and it exceeded our expectations. The staff was exceptional and incredibly knowledgeable about both food and wine. Five stars aren’t enough! The restaurant is small, with limited seating, but the service is impeccable and friendly. They showcase the best food that Cumbria has to offer, and the quality, creativity, and flair are evident in every dish. There’s really nothing that could be improved! I visited in April and can’t wait to return soon.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Ignore the negative reviews if you are in the lakes you have many choices for fine dining make sure one of them is the Old Stamp House. Phenomenal food and nice relaxing environment. Service was great, our dietary requirements well taken care of, couldn’t ask for more.
This beautiful restaurant, located in the heart of the lakes, offers an excellent dining experience provided by a large team in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The standout dishes for me were the stuffed prawns in a delightful sauce and the perfectly cooked venison.
