First of all, the service in the atmosphere are wonderful here. They do have a place to hang up your jackets when you come in, and there are cute, candle lights to brighten an otherwise more intimate and dark restaurant. I started off with the black Manhattan which is Old Forrester 100 bourbon, Averna, Bordeaux Blend, Cocchi di Torino, and Angostura bitters. It definitely was not too bitter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The three of us decided to split three entrées. The first was the steak, pan roasted 8oz filet with housemaid chips and a dipping sauce. The dinner experience was not great, but the service was top-notch. We were able to walk in on a Saturday night and were impressed by our server and the drinks. The restaurant has a charming midwestern interior. However, the food was pricier than expected and none of the dishes really stood out. The highlight was the chips and onion dip. The duck and fried rice were lacking in seasoning, and while the pozole was good, it was not as good as what you can find at Mexican restaurants for a lower price. Went for Brunch on Sunday and cannot wait to return to try out the dinner menu and adult.... (sans baby). Staff was incredibly nice and personable. Made us feel at home and welcome, making sure we had everything we needed and offering anything they thought would make our meal and time there better. Took great care with our little one! FOOD was incredible I can't believe we hadn't been before. Breakfast Strada and veggie pita, johnny cakes, all exceeded expectations and had surprise elements to them in terms of flavor profile and how the ingredients were featured. There was even a surprise house made chocolate milk for the little one that was a hit with all of us. We will be back.... soon!
The cocktails were delightful, the dining room had a charming old-school Milwaukee vibe, and the food was exceptional at The Original. What really stood out to me was the fact that when they say something is spicy, they truly mean it! The chili oil in the Duck Dumplings tasted like it was infused with serranos, and the spicy coating on the Cornish Hen warmed my heart (and set my lips on fire as a Texan). The chef at this restaurant is absolutely incredible, and the dishes they serve are amazing. The service was top-notch during our dinner dining experience. The price per person typically ranges from $30 to $50. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive a perfect 5 rating. Highly recommended dishes include the Smoked Duck Breast and the Scallops.

Very simple but elegant menu. Great cocktail offerings though no vodka drinks. Small, but delicious entree offerings that pair nicely with dessert.
