I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant as friends had been before so took my boyfriend and our friends for his birthday, all the starters were fab, we had scotch eggs (best I’ve tasted), smoked trout rillette and smoked mackerel pate. Mains were burgers, well caramelised on the outside, slightly pink in the middle, very tasty meat so lovely. My sister had the beef pie and I had the chicken, gammon and leek pie, unfortunately when our pies arrived they were lukewarm at best and the pastry was soft not crispy. the pub itself is beautiful. very traditional English decoration inside with a real fire also. outside is beautiful, they have a large canvas tent with festive lighting, a big fire and loads of picnic benches. the vegan options for the restaurant inside are not great. there was only one thing on the menu that was a falafel dish that I thought was very unimaginable. but when it came, it was really delicious. the hummus was the smoothest, silkiest I ever tasted. everything on the teller was delicious and decadent. fortunately, there was also the possibility to order from the pizza place outside that is run by 'nole' that have a place in salisbury. they always have a vegan option as well as a v...
this review has been over 2 years, but is still likely the best vegan meal I've ever had! we had lucky that the woman whose apartment we rented made us reservations as soon as she heard of our nutritional needs. the inside of the restaurant was elegant, but not stuffy. the service was wonderful. my man and I had both some fantastic vegan escapes, from which everyone bites of what we have ordered to choose and love. our nephew did not eat vegan food, but about what he had, so it was great to go to a beautiful place that has something for everyone. we would make a point if ever again in salisbury. I was last here five years ago. It was a very special English pub. Now, I am not sure what it is? A pizzeria? A restaurant? High-end accomodation? It seems to have lost its identity. The service was nothing special, whereas it used to be high end. The decor used to be a talking point. Now it is bland The food was excellent. Dare I come back for a Sunday roast?
I'd not visited for 2 years with an ex army friend. He enjoyed a good size haddock and chips. I really liked the double burger I was hungry succulent meat nice fries and homemade coleslaw. A scoop of ice cream to finish. Pricy but real class . The front restaurant is sophisticated yet cosy.
After 4 hours of travelling this place was a godsend! Relaxing interior, incredible food, great and friendly customer service. Thank you so much for making our day a bit brighter!
