The Pheasant At Buckland

I’ve visited The Pheasant several times, and I’ve been impressed every time. My most recent visit was with my team from work, and with ten of us there, everyone had a fantastic evening. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food was served promptly, and everyone commented on how delicious it was. They also offer a great selection of alcoholic beverages to suit all tastes. Additionally, there's a spacious outdoor seating area, but it tends to get quite busy in nice weather, so it’s best to make a reservation in advance.

Exceptional service, as always. Thank you! The food arrived promptly after we placed our order. This was my second visit since relocating to the area two months ago. The cod and chips were excellent, and the roast dinners were equally delicious. However, the portion sizes were quite large, and the three of us who ordered them couldn’t finish our meals. It might be worth considering smaller portions to reduce waste. We will definitely come back and hope to enjoy the lovely outdoor space next time!

The restaurant features a charming garden with well-spaced tables, complemented by attentive table service and friendly staff. I started with a delicious prawn cocktail, and the prawns were bursting with flavor. The belly pork as a starter was incredibly tender and served with a uniquely tasty salad – both dishes come highly recommended. However, the main course of fish and chips felt overpriced, and I was disappointed to find that sausage and mash was not available on the menu.

A friend and I had lunch today at The Pheasant. As someone with celiac disease, I was thrilled to find such a wide selection of gluten-free options available. There was a minor issue with both meals arriving simultaneously due to a kitchen appliance, but the manager handled it with great charm. The food, ambiance, and staff were all fantastic. Parking was convenient with a free car park (which we wouldn't refer to as a 'lot' in the UK!). The entrance is wheelchair accessible, and there is enough space between tables for easy movement, though the toilets are located upstairs. As for pricing, expect to spend around £20–30 per person. Here’s my overall rating: Food: 4/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 4/5, and there’s plenty of free parking available.

We made a stop here during our road trip, and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere is incredibly inviting, and the food is delicious. I ordered the mixed Sunday roast, and I can’t recommend it enough. They also have an entire menu that caters to dietary restrictions, which is great for people with allergies and intolerances. The staff were very friendly, too!
