There are few places in Stockport where you can find a good sandwich that isn't toasted or cold from a fridge, so my husband and I decided to try the Plaza. We were greeted at the door by a well-dressed man and led upstairs to the café. The café had a beautiful Art Deco style that I really enjoyed. We were seated by a friendly young man who was also dressed smartly, and the female waitresses were dressed in black and white, giving it a nostalgic feel. We each enjoyed a delicious and affordable sandwich, along with a pot of tea, while listening to old-fashioned music in the background. It was a delightful experience at this café.
Our ladies did the Backstage Tour of the Plaza on Wednesday 22nd February and had lunch in the restaurant afterwards. We were well looked after and the food was very nice. I had a Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Sandwich which came with a side salad and a portion of egg mayonnaise and a cafetiere of coffee and that cost around £10, my friend had a baked potato with beans and again that came with a bowl of side salad, The staff were very nice and attentive and took a photo of our ladies for us.
What a fabulous afternoon tea, We went to celebrate my mums 84th Birthday. Ted Doan and his staff went above and beyond with silver sprinkles on the table, fizz and a Birthday card from all the staff at the plaza. The afternoon tea was delicious and the staff were polite and friendly. The cafe was busy which is always a good sign of good food and good service. We will definitely be visiting again. Thankyou for making my mum’s day extra special.
this caffe is well talked about and very popular among the locals. it is a hidden gem of stockport. if they like a Sunday afternoon tee, this is the place many small cakes and good quality tee that have to have the torn plates. but they will return 15 per person. but it is worth it. small sandwiches. Nice. it's all artdeco. so it makes them feel as if they should wear to visit! the service is quite ugly here. love the feeling of 1930.

Beautifully kept place, full of character and clearly lovingly restored over the years. Staff were lovely, smartly dressed and polite. Really felt like you were being spoilt by being there. It was kinda decadent for a Wednesday afternoon, when we popped in to look around and have a drink and a cake. We look forward to going there again, maybe for a delightful but sedate celebration:
This is a little gem of Stockport. The food is fresh and delicious and extremely reasonably priced. Wonderful attentive staff. There is a lovely welcoming atmosphere and a real feel of stepping back in time to a gentler age. Lovely background music which isn’t too loud. It’s the second time we have been this year and will be going back again soon. Highly recommended.
The staff at this restaurant were friendly and welcoming. The service was outstanding. The sandwiches, scones with cream, and cakes were all delicious. The only downside was that the water for the tea was not boiling hot, so the tea ended up being lukewarm. Overall, it was a lovely treat. Thank you.
Went to Stockport Plaza cafe for afternoon tea. Really nice atmosphere, lovely afternoon tea. Really love how it volunteer staff are dressed in costume of the 1930s. Really good service would highly recommend

Absolutely love this place. Come here quite a lot for a special occasion or just a quick lunch. The afternoon tea is the best we’ve had anywhere. Love the decor and the service great. Reasonable prices too.
