I had my first visit to this restaurant recently. It was a bit tricky to locate, but once we entered, it had a warm and inviting atmosphere. There wasn't a host stand, so we weren't quite sure where to go at first. However, one of the servers quickly greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere we liked. Love this place, best po 'boy I 've had in this area. The bread is bakery fresh nice seasoning on the seafood (I 've had the shrimp oyster po 'boys). While visiting a friend in Atlanta he suggested this place for lunch. We arrived approximately 11:45am. Counter to order is in front of the door with not much seating (all full today). My friend asks if the bar is open and we went downstairs. Wow way bigger down there. They have games, pool tables and plenty of seating. I ordered Shrimp Po'Boy Sandwich and a side of Gumbo. I also tried the red beans and rice. The Po'Boy was delicious perfect amount of shrimp (blackened) sauce, bread roll slightly toasted. I tried a taste of my friend's red beans and rice at it was really good. On the other hand the gumbo was just ok, nothing spectacular. Service was good and fast.
My husband has been wanting to try this place and so we did one Saturday afternoon. We ordered the fried shrimp Po boy and the oyster Po boy which were average. We also ordered fries, bread pudding and a cup of gumbo. The bread pudding and fries were good but that gumbo, tasted like garbage! Seriously!!! That was the worst gumbo that I have ever tasted!!! I placed my order at the counter and was greeted right away. I went for my usual favorite—the fried shrimp Po' Boy. My sandwich and fries came out surprisingly quickly. I was very satisfied with the Po' Boy; the bread is crucial, and they nailed it. I ordered the small size, and it was more than enough for a lunch portion. Overall, I was very happy with my experience. It truly reminded me of a small Po' Boy shop back home in New Orleans. This place is 100% authentic, and I will definitely be returning—though I wish it were a bit closer to me!
