We were a group of with a reservation. We showed up on time and we had to put the tables and chairs together ourselves to accommodate our group, which is no problem. The big thing was the slow service. It took us over to be served a drink. There weren't enough menus on the table, so I scanned the QR code for the menu and that site was shut down. It was clear that there are not enough wait staff, YET they still crammed people in to full capacity. We were almost three hours in the pub for one drink and a meal. Worried about catching COVID then avoid The Portly Piper. We of us) sat at a table overlooking the entrance and watched dozens of people pour into the place with no contact name taken nor was their ID checked. It was a hit and...miss effort! I mentioned all of this to owner who said he would talk to his staff. Wake-Up idiot!! This virus has been with us for almost years, get with the program or loose your liquor license. With Covid protocols limiting the number of people allowed to eat in, take out from Portly Piper is just good! Fast, friendly and organized pick up of orders. Food is just as good as it is when eating in, except comfortably at home. Kids even...order their root beer in bottles for delivery

The above sandwiches are absolutely great! As an ex-Torontonian, when I visit family in Ajax, I head immediately for the Portly Piper for lunch! Great bar, friendly bar tenders and plenty of televisions to watch highlights of the Leafs previous outings!
