We decided to try this pub as we had herd good things about it. It is a traditional looking country pub, very small and dated. The food on offer was excellent quality and cooked to order. The staff seem more than nice and nothing was too much trouble. Reasonable priced. The menu ranged was really good too, what I would call traditional English, one of our party had liver and bacon, I had fish and chips, and the other member had a wonderful pie, all served pipping hot. The down side is it is very small, and very very dated not shabby chic dated just grubby looking dated.
We came for food only to be told that the kitchen had been ripped out and was being refitted. Prior to the visit I looked to see if they did food and at what times and couldn't find anything relating to food not being served due to the kitchen being refitted. Better communication between themselves and potential customers would be beneficial in future. The pub itself for drinks was spot on really and can't fault it in this respect, I am just more disheartened that we didn't get to sample the food due to poor communication prior to visiting. 2/5.
We’ve been going here for a while now and have got to know the team behind the bar pretty well. The place has a fantastic atmosphere, welcoming staff, good music and (perhaps most importantly) a great pint. Would definitely recommend open mic night too.
We were staying nearby and decided to stop off for a quick drink. The service was great and the restaurant was quite busy, indicating its popularity. We loved the bare stone walls and the flowery wallpaper that had a retro vibe from the 1960s.

New management in , there are 2 real ale pumps, always one available, usually Cullercoats Shuggie Boat. Food will be available soon. Choice of 4 newspapers every day. Good selection of spirits and cocktails
This bustling pub is the perfect spot to grab some drinks before heading to a nearby restaurant for a meal. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

I found this a nice little comfortable place. Got a perfectly poured pint and a nice snack served quickly by friendly staff.
