I visited this pub in the town center for the first time. When I walked in, there was a faint smell of paint, and I was surprised to find the bar counter around the corner. Despite the central location, there were very few people, and those who were there were not young. The decor was not traditional but not trendy either. I enjoyed a pint of Timothy Taylor's Golden Best, and although I didn't eat, they had lunchtime menu cards on the tables. The place seemed recently refurbished and was clean with well-maintained fittings. The layout was a bit unusual, making it difficult for the bar staff to see all customers. Out shopping stopped off for a quick drink. The Quays is nicely decorated with great staff superb beer they cater for those with a mobility difficulty or disability with a disabled toilet downstairs to the left of the bar plenty of space to get through between tables, also have a dedicated smoking area to the rear. They offer a range of food too at reasonable prices, we didn’t dine this time but have previously it was decent grub, worth a visit as very central in town.
Today, my partner and I went for Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We waited a long time for our food, which eventually came out cold. We had to wait an additional ten minutes for the vegetables. We sent our dinner back, and when it finally came back, it was hot. However, the mash and turnip were lumpy, the Yorkshire puddings were soggy, and the roast potato was undercooked and white.
we come to this bar because the music was good and heard it when we were getting the taxi from, decided to go to the venue. the quay not the quays as that was fantastic. This place could have been creditable, if the assistant manager was not offensive and very rude to my father of 75. where the response to him could of been professionally done. not advisable if not local.

I visited yesterday with a friend, we had a delicious home cooked lunch, mine being cheese omelette chips salad, while my friend had egg chips bacon which she loved, looking forward to eating here again after the refurbishment (can't wait to be honest) friendly staff too so what more can you ask for, we'll be back
Came in here for lunch while out shopping. Had the barbecue chicken baguette with home cooked chips, salad and coleslaw. Husband had a big burger. Both were absolutely delicious, filling and excellent value for money. Staff very pleasant and polite and clientele friendly. Would highly recommend
Well the lunch was good however the evening was a let down by one issue charged £14.50 for a £8 bottle of wine. And they wonder why pubs are going bust. Treat your customers with respect, don’t rip them off. We will never be back.
Had lunch here yesterday it was gorgeous, chicken all the trimmings, well cooked just like you would make at home but why bother when you can eat out like this it’s reasonably priced too, will be back soon

I recently visited a lovely pub in Darlington and tried their amazing giant Yorkshire pudding filled with meat and gravy. The staff there were incredibly friendly and helpful.
