It's summer, you're drinking in the beautiful views of Lake Manitouwabing and you're at the perfect place to enjoy a fine dining experience. In fact it's the only place. This calls for light, yet satisfying, refreshingly interesting dishes that showcase the natural flavours of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. But unfortunately, everything on offer seems very heavy and more akin to what you would expect at a tavern, in the dead of winter. We have a cottage on Lake Manitouwabing and visit The Ridge several times throughout the summer to enjoy a dinner out. We have been sadly disappointed with each visit to the restaurant. The service is friendly but the menu and the food needs an overhaul.The menu is full of pub-like food that is uninspired and heavy. The beautiful setting deserves fresh, healthy menu items made with locally sourced fresh ingredients. Tonight my husband and I shared crab cakes as an appetizer. They were good, but needed an aioli for dipping. For our entree we had a burger (ok) and a pizza: the pizza was way over sauced and was soggy. It is such a shame that the menu pales in comparison to the stunning lakeside...
Over the past few years, we have enjoyed dropping into the Ridge for dinner, or coming down by boat for a beer and wings on the patio. The views and atmosphere are beautiful, the staff is fun, and the food is good.This year though the menu has been shortened, and has gone more upscale/fine dining.I'm sure there are some that want and appreciate that, but when I am up north I am trying to relax and enjoy myself, not looking for a "pheasant under glass" type experience.I have only gone once this season and likely won't go back. I was told that they don't serve wings after 4pm? At a golf course? They used to have good wings, and an appetizer platter for people to share, but no longer.Disappoint...
This Golf Course is a must play. I recommend phoning the pro shop and booking the Golf & Dine deal for about $100. You will love the look of the incredible wooden clubhouse and restaurant. I would become a member if it was closer to our cottage. You feel like you are pampered. Our friends rave about our yearly Golf Buddy visit. We also take our wives there to fine dine. This golf course is excellent in so many ways. It's beautiful. The pine trees, rocks and a view of the lake make for a wonderful experience. The course is well maintained with forgiving fairways. A couple of holes are tricky but not too threatening. The 18th hole needs a better layout or better accessibility with the golf cart. The patio/screened in porch/restaurant are all very nice with lots of wood and a northern feel. Staff are friendly. Word has it, the course is for sale. Sad news. This is a beauty.
This place has it all. Great food, whether menu items or daily specials, you will not be disappointed. The view of the lake through floor to ceiling windows makes dinner an experience. The staff are very friendly but professional at the same time. I have been several times throughout this season and have enjoyed every meal. The Chef comes out to visit every table for feedback and to personally thank everyone for coming.
The course is apparently for sale and if not sold by the end of the 2017 season, it will be closed.Great course in very good condition. Fescue is very high and the bugs are a problem on a couple of holes. Enjoyed it and hope to play it again next year. The view from the restaurant patio is very relaxing and the food is acceptable.

A great golf course with a beautiful clubhouse. Not only can you shop high end golfing attire but treat yourself in a dining room with atmosphere.
