My Wife and I came here for our 4th anniversary as we were staying at a nearby cottage. I had heard good things about the restaurant and watched the episode of "You gotta eat here" before coming. Everything we ordered was very good and didn't seem like it came from a box, it was all freshly prepared. Thew flavours were on point. The meals were huge though. I think they could make the portions smaller so that you could actually have an app and a main and not be stuffed. On our first visit to The Riverside, we arrived at 1 on Sunday hoping for brunch. Alas, we were given the normal menu. But everything was uphill from there. The website shows a breakfast menu but none was evident that day. Plus they open at 11 every day.They offer quite a range of interesting dishes - far more than the usual pub fare. The fish and chips and shrimp p boy wrap were both very good. My fish was lightly battered and very moist - quite tasty. The chips were fresh, hot and crispy on the outside. Have been meaning to try this attractive little restaurant near cottage country many times and finally made the stop for lunch. The food was terrific (I had the shrimp po boy wrap and my husband had the pulled pork- both delish), the service was polite, friendly and efficient (thanks Maddy) and the chef even made the rounds to check all met our expectations. The atmosphere was country casual with a nice outdoor patio and a very homey feel inside.The menu offered lots of choice and was reasonably priced as the portion sizes were quite generous. The whole experience made for a lovely afternoon out and we can't wait to visit again for dinner!
Celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this week and chose The Riverside Restaurant based on the reviews. Well, it exceeded expectations! What a find this refurbished inn ended up being. The menu is extensive, the prices most reasonable and the food is presented well and absolutely delicious. Now, I only wish it was closer to our home. Would most definitely dine at this establishment again. And, lovely Lindsey, our waitress, very kindly celebrated our anniversary by offering a complimentary dessert. Staying with friends in the area, we were taken for lunch to The Riverside. The restaurant was full, and we didn't have a reservation, but didn't have to wait long for a table to be ready. Food was classic diner! Great hamburgers, Classic Reuben's sandwich, Smoked Salmon wrap, all served with a choice of sides. Service was fast and attentive, and food was great. Would recommend and certainly return on a future visit.
First time here for me (hubby has been a number of times). he raved about it so much we stopped on the way to the Cottage this time. Oh My Goodness. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had! I also had the spinach salad which was amazing. Highly recommend this spot - its a great way to start a weekend!
It was about 4 years ago I had my first dining pleasure at The Riverside, we now visit this wonderful restaurant regularity and we believe best restaurant in Kawartha Lakes ! We just had dinner there tonight, great service, wonderful atmosphere and awesome dinners, Certainly a 5 STAR !
