The Root Beer Barrel

Nostalgia and fun! Come up and order at an giant root beer barrel take part in history! This icon was almost lost when it fell into disrepair while left vacant. Thankfully in 2010 it was purchased for $1 and restored to its former glory. Sprecher’s root beer soda lemonade sold here with hot dogs with all manner of creative toppings. Big chocolate chip cookies and brownies for dessert. Generous portions and friendly staff. Tip them well; it’s HOT in that barrel while working! TIP— baked beans and Mac and cheese are delicious!

This is our favorite place to stop on our family excursions to the west coast of Michigan. It’s an intriguing landmark and serves up a yummy menu of cased meats and root beer (floats too). My wife and I had the Chicago style dogs and they are BURSTING with flavor and spice! The kids had regular dogs and we washed it all down a root beer float and fresh lemonade! Check them out and check out the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan

This is a must go place! The best root beer and hot dogs! Worth the wait when the line is long. We had the Mac and cheese chili dog, the awesome Chicago Dog (best one I've had in a long time. Very authentic), and the Barrel Dog with baked beans. The owner came out to see if everything was good. It was great!

Delicious root beer on tap, great atmosphere with amazing staff!! I had to add to my original review! The staff is truly amazing. They brought a treat out to our fur baby. She is also a huge fan of the Douglas Root Beer Barrel!

Just fun and silly but definitely go! Their root beer floats are really good and you can play corn hole while enjoying your float.
