I have visited The Ship 4 times now, Each time the food is just outstanding and yummy but the service is very poor. Once your food order is taken, there is no after care! Each time we have waited 30/50 mins for the food (which we don’t mind the wait for the food) but this time they forgot the sauces, we asked about the sauces and they explained they come separately, which we then waited ten minutes. Asked again and waiting 5 minutes for the sauce. For four people who can’t eat a parmo without a sauce dip, the food was nearly cold. The staff rushed us to order when we arrived, and then ignored us to clear our plates and offer the dessert menu for at least 20 minutes after we 'd finished. I ordered the hunters chicken which should say served on a bed of peppers in the menu, however fails to mention that they 're used at all. Unfortunately, due to my autism I cannot stand the taste or smell of Peppers so when the dish was served I immediately realised and sent it back, requesting one without Peppers. I was impressed at how quickly a new one was brought out to me, Unfortunately I quickly discovered that they had actually just scrapped the Peppers off of the original as I quickly discovered I could still taste the Peppers...
Upon entering the pub on a cold, rainy day, we had to wait in a drafty doorway to be seated, despite the place being less than half full. After waiting for five minutes, we were finally seated at a table for two with mismatched chairs. My friend had to practically rest her chin on the table due to the low chair. I ordered the steak and ale pie, but was disappointed to find it consisted of dry steak between puff pastry with no gravy. The meal was served with frozen vegetables and aunt Bessie’s oven chips. We have moved to the area and had a meal in the summer it's very mediocre staff unelpful .Since then We have tried on two occasions to call in for a drink which is what a pub is ?? Told by staff there was no table available for drinking only. A table we were told was available outside a cold October evening dark outside don't think so. We could see empty tables and asked if we could sit down until the dinners arrived .The answer was no this has happened twice. Will not be going back. There are much nicer pubs nearby where you will be made welcome for a drink .I would recommend the Smiths Arms lovely staff and a warm welcome.

After waiting nearly 45 minutes our food eventually came. Our Sunday lunches were cold seemed like they had been sat for ages) the mint sauce I requested came as I had nearly finished my Lunch. The childrens Chips were like cardboard and looked like they had been sat all day completely inedible) Thankfully the parmo’s the children had ordered were ok again issue with tomato sauce my little girl was nearly finished the whole thing before it had arrived we had to ask twice) !!! I may add the waitress did offer to take the meals back and re-heat or provide a new one but hey who wants to wait a further 40mins
Went for a family birthday, first time we had been. Waited almost an hour for food, fish batter was soggy and looked like it was still mixture. Had to leave the fish and just eat the chips. Ordered a waffle for dessert, had been over cooked as was rock hard when trying to eat it. Thought the price of the drinks were a farce! Also do not agree with the automatic service charge added on, yes we were able to take it off but I would like to decide how much I would like to “tip”. Will certainly not be rushing back.
"The Premier Inn was exactly as expected - clean, comfortable, and a good value for the money. There were a couple of minor issues, such as low water pressure in the shower and a loud noise from the cold tap, that were not up to the usual standard. However, the staff were friendly and helpful as always. Thank you to the team for making our stay relaxing and stress-free."
Didn’t receive the food I ordered, it was confirmed the order hadn’t been put through correctly. (Sauce had to be brought out which should have been on the meal I’d ordered, no spice at all to the meal). It was then denied I’d been served an incorrect order, no reduction in price, service charge still on the bill, very poor, won’t be returning. Service 5/10. Food 6/10.

A service charge for a table of two? Weird… and quite sneaky as most places offer you the option before you going ahead with the payment. Also asking ‘same again?’ for our round of drinks only to come back with a pint of coke rather than the regular one we clearly had… again, a bit sneaky. Enjoyed our promos, but I doubt we’d return based on this and previous reviews.
