Having frequented many Royal Oak establishments over the past 25 years, I think The Side Bar is the best bar I have seen for several reasons:The staff is great; Dayna, Kyle, Jenna Emily are fabulous bartenders while Sage, Marissa, Nicky handle serving like pros. Kayla keeps events on track and from Owner to Hostess, they are all friendly, respectful and a pleasure to spend time with.The Happy Hour (02:00 to 06:00) is very reasonable and by starting a little earlier than other places give a person a chance to avoid the crowds until later in the afternoon. Appetizers drinks very budget friendly.Small patio (6 tables) but being on 4th Street as opposed to Main you can avoid all the foot traffic...
Went here twice this week as we had friends and family in town. Waited over 40 minutes for one beer as the first we ordered (Oberon) wasn’t even on tap. The second ones we ordered the keg needed to be changed which easily took 30 minutes. Second night we came to watch the lions game and about half the TVs did not have the game on despite only having two tables seated. Also stated if we wanted any food to order right then because the kitchen was closing so staff could watch the game at 8:30? Refused to put game on but closed the kitchen early to watch it? Just didn’t make any sense
Sorry yo say the food was sub par. Greasy and spicy. I ordered a club sandwich. The bread was drenched in butter the man grilled. Instead of may the sauce was a chipotle type. Tater tots done well but greasy. I asked for a side of queso for the tater tots. I asked if they were spicy. I was told no but they had peppers in the mix. I will not be going back. If I can't get fresh and done traditional then I will cook at home.
Stopped in because we saw an impossible burger on your menu. Best part was it was any burger on the menu impossible style. We had drinks, we had apps, dinner, and everything was perfect. Pretzel bites were the fluffiest I’ve ever had. The chickpea app was amazing with perfectly made chips, and our burgers were awesome! Service was also great, can’t wait to come back and have more impossible burgers different styles!

The fries were decent, but the seasoning felt a bit off, and they only had freshly shaved Parmesan on top. The fried wings were pretty standard; they tasted good individually, but the sauces were a bit unusual. The beer, on the other hand, was excellent and served cold.
I think there are better options in the area, but I might consider giving this place another try in the future.
It's great to see some vegan sandwich options available! We tried the Jumpin’ Jack Flash and the Green Goblin, and both were delicious. However, I think the Green Goblin could benefit from a bit more acidity, perhaps with some pickled jalapeños. We'll definitely be returning!
Drinks? Great. Service? Adequate. Music? Absolutely terrible! If you're hoping for a mix of upbeat rock and Mitski's melancholic ballads, prepare for a jarring experience that might give you whiplash!
A great date night out. Great tasting food. Unique food options like the green goblin sandwich. Amazing. Not to mention the food prices were sup budget friendly. ??

Service was great but the food was just ok. Ordered the turkey club and was fine but nothing to write home about. Cocktails were delicious though.
