Wow! This place is amazing, especially for railway enthusiasts. We were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival and made to feel right at home! The service was simply outstanding! The rooms are novel and the concept of converting old coaches into rooms is great. There’s loads of railway memorabilia around too which adds to the theme. There is also a nice balcony which looks out on the railway line! The food was nice too! Drinks were fairly priced! All in all a great place sadly not the easiest place to reach if you don’t have a car, but honestly if you get the chance to visit, then I’d say take it! Staying at this restaurant is always a pleasure. The converted railway coaches may be older, but they are clean and comfortable. The food is delicious, always well-cooked and well-presented. The staff are welcoming and make you feel like the most important person in the building, which is a rare quality these days. I have been coming here for over 5 years and have noticed the hard work that Sid and John put into improving the sidings with passion. Overall, I give the rooms a rating of 5.
Fabulous! Quirky is an understatement . Unique trackside location. Excellent food we had the Metze, Greek Wine all served by fabulous attentive staff. The rooms in the vintage railway carriages are great too! Can't fault it! Rooms: 9 rooms in vintage railway carriages. They are all great! Food drinks: Greek/Mediterranean menu. Fabulous and clearly cooked with a love for great food. Some good Greek wines too! If you have the Metze be prepared for a loosening of the belt
We held our wedding reception at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the location was fantastic, especially since the children enjoyed watching the passing trains. The service and staff were excellent - very attentive, cheerful, and upbeat. Highlights of the hotel included a great view, a quiet atmosphere, kid-friendly accommodations, and great value for the price.

We had a fantastic stay at this unique hotel that will be especially loved by train enthusiasts. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the hotel is conveniently located not far from York city centre. We gave the rooms, service, and location all a perfect score of 5. Overall, the hotel is a great value for the experience it offers.
Definitely one for rail enthusiasts. Right at the side of the East Coast main line, trains passing ever few minutes. The rail carriages are very atmospheric and the dining car is lovely. We called in to The Sidings for something to eat for dinner as we live in the village. I ordered the chicken kebabs. Unfortunately, these came luke warm and was slightly concerned that we're not cooked.. The Tatziki tasted like mayo, flat breads were tiny and very salty and chips luke warm. Service: 3
