I recently visited this local pub and I have been wanting to sit down and share my experience. We were greeted by a friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was among friends. The decor was charming and inviting, with a warm and cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The menu was diverse and offered something for everyone, from classic pub fare to more unique and creative dishes. The food was delicious, and I appreciated that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Absolutely baffled. I made a booking via email but when I got to the pub today my booking could not be found, they allowed us to sit at a table for an hour and a half as it was reserved which we appreciated but the moment they asked for our food order and we said we wouldn't be eating the staff were extremely rude about it, and they didn't even try to hide it making comments to other members of staff right in front of us. They only time we had any positive attitude from them which was the minimum was when the drinks bill was being paid for.
Wandered through the park after Fighting Cocks and stumbled on this current (2023) CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. Excellent entry. Chose Wychert from Vale brewery, a 3.9% amber bitter. Madge loved it. Lovely fireplace, Good beer garden plus car parking. Great first visit. Long inside seating splits into 3 areas. Menu looks good; Sunday rossts etc.
Sunday lunch, enjoyed! The 'roast potatoes ' almost tasted as though they had been 'deep fried ' a trick my ex-father-in-law used to 'roast ' his potatoes. It was all going great well. Spent at least 250 and then for no reason a bar lady came out and was rude to us in the garden. Apparently they told one of our group once that we had to go inside. We had no idea. So extremely rude. Tried to find out why. Nothing. No people skills whatsoever.
The 6 Bells has never let us down. First went many years ago and today's team produced wonderful innovative food, not usually seen on a pub menu. It isnt a huge or gastropub it is cosy, friendly and a feeling of history seeps from the walls. Thank you all at the 6 Bells!
Great traditional pub. Good selection of ales and food. Would definitely recommend booking if planning on going at lunch dinner was full when we arrived on weekday for lunch; fortunately had booked in advance.
Proper genuine pub with outstanding food and cask ales It 's worth coming for the beer alone, but the food is generous and 'proper '. Best to book for food, but you can normally find somewhere to squeeze in. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
