The food and service were both outstanding. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich special, and we couldn't stop raving about them even after we got home. We both agreed that if we lived in Port Hope, this restaurant would be our favorite spot. The wine list offers a great selection of local and international wines, which I appreciated. I also loved their commitment to using local and sustainable ingredients. We frequently drive to Toronto and are always looking for a place to eat on the way back home. ordered fish tacos, the best thing we had at this place.. we ordered the brisket, 'twas cooked but both the meat and the mashed potato that came with it were bland.. also when you order the brisket you better eat it within minutes as it gets cold fast.. we got the mussels too but it 's not something to rave about, especially the first couple pcs we ate had an awful aftertaste (like a terrible odor, but it went away thank god) we 've had better mussels around -like a restaurant nearby.. but for the $70 plus was expecting just a little bit more. fries were okay, for kids.. again, go for the fish tacos.. or stay away from brisket, or the mussels.
Our dining experience started out well with a very friendly server but then as things got busier the service went down hill which we assume was the result of not enough staff. Our meals took a long time to arrive and when they did they were cold. I requested they be reheated but that made them to tough to eat. So unfortunately we paid alot of money for a below standard meal and poor service.
We recently visited this restaurant and it was like a little taste of heaven. The food was amazing, especially the fish and chips which were some of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere with its emphasis on local products was fantastic. We will definitely be returning in the future. If you're in Port Hope and looking for great food, this is a must-try spot. Went for dinner at The Social, and it took them a little while to come over to us and ask our order. Even though the place wasn’t that busy. Once we ordered, the gnocchi special was delicious, but the brisket dinner was quite bland and it was unfortunate I had to ask for salt just to give it some flavour. Was tender, just needed more flavour.

I have never been let down at this restaurant. The food is always good and the service is friendly. The menu has a lot more options than what is listed on the website. Come on, mix it up a bit! You're capable of more than just offering 3 burgers and 3 chicken sandwiches!
Unfortunately, The Social was disappointing this visit. Food was not as good as it was. Hamburger was way overcooked! The cleanliness of the restaurant in general and the washroom specifically were not acceptable. Not as wonderful as a first visit years ago. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
First time having lunch at The Social. Myself and a dear friend were very pleased with our visit. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was excellent. Thank you to Charlotte. Would definitely return.
