I had expected we to go to an old lesekneipe and that's it, but with Indian eating joy! the team was welcoming and happy that we bring our 2 year old to enjoy the evening with us. they can enjoy the basic Indian recipes or heat them with extra spices if they wish. refreshing to replace the same of the kobra bier sand kingfisher replaced by doombar extra cold and other alternatives. the restaurant page occupied by 7, we arrived shortly. the pub side had jägers who enjoy drinks. it works well. our server was a beautiful lady who took time to meet us and our daughters. we look forward to coming back soon.
We visited the Spread Eagle on the back of a friend recommendation. Really didn’t know what to expect, as we walked in it had the feel of a local community boozer, staff were friendly and efficient behind the bar. Had an issue with our wine, and the manager was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble! Cannot fault the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The food was absolutely amazing! Authentic, full of flavour, with just enough to leave you feeling satisfied. I honestly cannot remember ever eating a better curry phenomenal. We loved it and will definitely be back.
great Indian food and excellent value. the first tip of ale was a bit old and flat. When I questioned it, I was told that it was supposed to be like that, obviously by a barman who does not drink himself. the second (different) pint was fresh and tasty as it should be. I've been drinking for decades and don't like saying something that's clearly wrong with someone who doesn't know her or understands that it's getting old. the first pint, although paid, was left undisturbed on the bar. I guess the customer isn't always right here.
Took a customer to Banarasi 's Kitchen at the Spread Eagle and I 'm going to actually say it... Best Indian food I have ever had. Three of us had starters and mains and not a single dish was part of the usual British Indian menu, although all the usuals are available. My Aloo Chaat and 'Railway Lamb ' was brilliant... completely surprising smells and flavours. I 'm not a local bit next time I 'm in Reading I 'll be going here for dinner. Superb.

really good authentic Indian cuisine, and I say that as someone with Indian heritage, so I don't give my praise easy! most of my family are now at least a few times here, and everyone has enjoyed eating. we also noticed that the cook came and spoke to most of the diners (including us). he was sensitive to the feedback and really cares about eating what is a big sign.
I must say, this Indian restaurant may be the best I have ever been to. This was my first time visiting, and I was pleasantly surprised. The Spread Eagle used to be an average pub, but now it has transformed into a lovely pub with an excellent restaurant. I highly recommend it.
Food was excellent at Banarasi Kitchen. We have tried quite a few Indian restaurants in Reading so far we found Banarasi the best .food tasted very authentic and yummy. Ambience was excellent welcoming. All staff were excellent thank you for great service good luck
let me say this: best Indian food in reading west. this place serves authentic Indian food, so fresh and tasty, in the comfortable atmosphere of their local trusted pub. Make you like one and come here for a pint and a few chickens!

Haven't been for years but the ale was good and the food was excellent, probably the best pub style Chinese and Indian food I've had. Good set up there.
