Best food I've ever had in this part of the county (at reasonable prices). My friend and I had a sharing platter and every single item was delicious. The desserts were fab too, and well priced. The chef clearly knows her/his stuff. Great service. Lovely garden. After lunch one day, I recommended it to my parents for their wedding anniversary the following evening, and they had an equally lovely experience. I look forward to going back sometime to try out the gin and cocktail menus! I highly recommend this place it deserves to be busy all the time!

From the moment we entered the restaurant, we enjoyed every moment spent there. The warm greeting, the ambience, the friendly staff and the most amazing food. The choice on the menu was so good, I had trouble making a choice as all my favourites were there. On top of this, there was an amazing young girl who played the piano the whole time we were there without a break. Being a music lover, I was very impressed with her reportioire, playing all my favourites. All in all this was a very enjoyable evening, and look forward to going back soon.

Perfect slightly upmarket country Pub, a clear step up from the mundane average places everywhere else. The welcome is warm, the staff efficient, the food excellent and the ambience mature with a degree of sophistication without being pretentious. Nowhere comes even close to it within 40 miles that I'm aware. A beacon of how it should be done without downgrading to the populist chain pubs and those just getting by.

The Stag is a brilliant place to eat and one of my favourites. Always a warm welcome and the food is always excellent. The piano tops it off. FAB.
