We had a wonderful experience with the service at this restaurant. The young man serving our table was exceptional – he was attentive and accommodating, even when our dog started growling and barking. He truly enhanced our evening. The food was also amazing. I enjoyed a delicious Brie beetroot tart that was both tasty and filling. One of our group had a "small" fish and chips order, which was actually quite large - we joked that a large order must come on a platter instead of a plate! Unfortunately, the portion sizes were too big for some of us and we had to leave some food behind. We suggest offering slightly smaller portions. A return visit after several years and The Star is as good as ever probably better. From the minute we stepped in and greeted by a very pleasant young lady behind the bar I knew we were right to return. The two different ploughman's were excellent, very good quality cheeses and ham, beautifully presented and enormous portions. The fish and chips were excellent, pure white fish what more could you ask for. There was another delightful young lady who asked if she could get us anything and then returned to check everything was okay. Food and wine extremely good value for money, as I said before I only wished we lived nearer, so thank you to everyone at The Star.
Passing this pub on a drive and stopped for food, extremely friendly staff they couldn’t of been more helpful, the menu looked fantastic I went for thick cut gammon, quails egg and chips with a pineapple chutney my partner going for the fish and chips. When it came out it certainly wasn’t what I would could thick cut gammon and was missing the chutney I asked for chutney to be told they had ran out and was offered an alternative. The food was tasty and the fish cooked well. Would recommend for good pub grub but the menu does make it come across a lot more fancy than what it actually is.
My husband and I were on holiday and wanted to go out locally, for Sunday Lunch, somewhere that we could take our dog. We were advised to try The Star Inn and we were not disappointed. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly there was plenty of it. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble! Service was prompt, efficient and delivered with a smile! They were very accepting of our extremely excitable puppy too! We enjoyed the whole experience very much and will definitely be back. Thank you!

We had hiked from Broadway to Ashton Under Hill and this place was highly recommended by a fellow we ran into during our hike. You need to check first at the bar to ensure the tables are actually available though. They did find us a spot although the place was super busy. The servers were very friendly and prompt. We were allowed to do some testers of their sparking ciders before ordering. Our meals were very good and we enjoyed the vibe. We would recommend this pub/restaurant.
We dropped in to the Star Inn for an early lunch on Tuesday. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were soon a number of tables occupied. Beer was good. I had the fish pie which had been recommended by our campsite owner and it was stacked with fish. Others had a different pie, linguine and gammon. We all loved our food. As well as enjoyable hearty food it was good value.
Had a family meal out seven adults. The menu choice was extensive and we were all very satisfied with what we ordered. The food was very tasty with big portions perhaps a little too big. The service was first class with the young man serving the food especially good at his job. He was very bright bubbly with a great sense of humour a real delight to be served by him
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Young lady doing 3 jobs at a time serviceing food and poring drinks plus taking orders. We only live 5 miles away I don't know how I missed this pub. I will be coming back with friends. I will let very one know how great this is. Cheers Glenn and Susan

This restaurant is a classic country pub with vintage decor, but the food and service are excellent. The pies were outstanding and the desserts were also delicious. The dishes have a cozy, homemade feel with generous portions. I highly recommend this place.
This is a lovely spot to gather with family. The home-cooked meal was fantastic. The parking at the back could use clearer signage, but we were able to find a spot in front of the restaurant.
