first visit, ordered food for two. good service, friendly staff and a good selection of real ale as well as selection of wines. the food was freshly cooked and served without appropriate delay. excellent value for the high quality presented. I have been revisiting since then and had bar snacks and the quality is consistent. the real ales were served in branded glassware and served in good condition. the personal was friendly and the pub had the right ambiente and a real friendly atmosphere. the actual fire, the real ale and the seeming real passion for a village pub to do as it should be done is a real advantage of living close to. We made a last-minute reservation and were so pleased with our choice. What a true gem of a place! We enjoyed a delightful dinner in the evening and a top-notch breakfast the next morning. While the initial greeting could have been warmer, the overall experience was fantastic. Its location is quite convenient for Donington Park. The only downside is the nearby airport; flights can be disruptive, as they stop around midnight and resume at 6 AM. However, this issue is common with all accommodations in the vicinity. If you're looking for a great spot in the area, I highly recommend this place!
Had a fantastic meal last night to celebrate a birthday! Great food, generous portions, friendly staff, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Menu selection was excellent with some different options....made it difficult to choose! I had the Gyros with chicken but also tried the halloumi delicious......followed by Chocolate Pie served with Salted Caramel Ice Cream....also delicious! The Star is literally 5 minutes down the road from me (15/20 if you walk) so we will definitely be visiting again very soon. Highly recommended Service: 5 Location: 5
Fantastic pub! The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was really inviting. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It's been a long time since I've visited such a great village pub. Our dog was pampered and loved his cozy spot by the fire. We received a wonderful welcome from Leah and the staff, which made us feel right at home. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast, accompanied by a great selection of drinks. Our overnight stay was fantastic; the room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We will definitely be returning! A special thank you to Dave the chef as well. Looking forward to our next visit!
This is a fantastic village pub! The food is consistently of high quality, and there's a lovely beer garden at the back. It's probably the best spot in the area! The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome, which is why it has become our top choice for enjoying a beer in the sun.
We had a fantastic 2 night stay at this lovely country pub. Leah, Dave and staff are extremely accomadating going that extra mile to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The food was excellent and the rooms very clean and comfortable.
