Love my calamari and this attracted me to The Sun for dinner...as I was staying down the road...well what a surprise... staff greeted me at the door, organised my tab, brought my 1st drink to the table, and shortly after one of the best calamari I have had arrived! The main course steak was cooked perfectly medium and I had asked for the chips on the side as I dislike the practice of putting hot food on top of the chips and making them soggy.....chips appeared to be double cooked..crispy and hot (no bain marie here}....nice wine list and great service...what can I say other than I went back the next night...had the calamari again and the chilli prawn pasta ...again I was not disappointed.......
Recently had lunch here using the Entertainment Book voucher so got got the cheaper meal free. But even without the vouchers the meals were all well priced. I had the chicken breast stuffed with feta and sundried tomato on mash with other veg and it was delicious. The waitress was friendly, helpful and smiling. It was a bit noisy but no more than any other pub at lunchtime. We sat over in a corner booth so it was a bit away from the busyness of the restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised with this venue. I arrived at peak time on valentines day with no booking but the helpful staff quickly round me a table. Had the schnitzel special and it was very nice. Food arrived within 10 minutes. The staff were incredibly busy but all smiling and helpful and even came back to check how my meal was. Will definitely go back.
Booked a function for dinner after our daughters christening for 30 people, arrived at 6:30 with our guests and how embarrassing NO BOOKING! Even Left our credit card details with them when we placed the booking for a deposit. I WILL NEVER GO HERE EVER AGAIN! I wouldn't book a function there they may forget you! My husband and I stayed at the raintree motel across the road. From here and we went to this hotel for lunch. Well the atmosphere was so good friendly and the meals were awesome. We stayed for tea. The staff are welcoming and friendly. A big thank you to all the staff for a very pleasant day.
The Sun Hotel definitely has their customer service figured out. Bar and Wait staff are some of the best I've experienced. Meals were tasty and well presented. If there was to be some criticism, the mains serving portion size is smaller than most.
Saturday night and the place was full to the rim with diners. A good choice of meals for reasonable prices and excellent und very attentive service. A pleasure to have been for dinner. Full marks

nice quite suburban hotel to have a pub meal & cold drink with out the riff raff & fights you sometimes get!
