We popped into the Swan on the off chance they had a table for dinner. The friendly staff checked, found space and squeezed us in. We had starter, main and shared a dessert which sadly started as 10/10 and wound up at 5. Starting with chicken liver pate and a baked camembert which were both excellent. We followed that with steak ale pie which, once we mixed in the mashed potato had an acceptably thick gravy; had we had chips the pie would have been disappointing gravy in pies should be thick not runny, however flavourful and this was tasty. The pudding was disappointing in contrast to both the main and starter. We had a deconstructed lemon meringue pie with raspberry sorbet. Sadly the sorbet...
What a beautiful quaint little gem! We went here with 2 other couples on the 29th July and we had the most fantastic experience here. The steaks were absolutely outstanding, the bar staff were so attentive while making our favourite drinks up (even the barman trying our suggestion of half Thatchers Gold and half Thatchers Haze mixed together!! and the breakfast was just superb. We were staying locally in the area and was the only pub in the town that had sports on which was perfect for us. Good selection of drinks and the menu looked great. Only downside, which I know it couldn’t be helped, was that we could not try the food due to their being a large event on. We did return a day later to try again for lunch as we noted from the sign outside said they served food until 2pm however we arrived at 1.40 and was told that the kitchen was already closed.
The Swan is a lovely old pub/hotel in Kington. A great place to stay for walking and to explore the town. We stayed from Thursday June 29th 2023, until (today) Friday 30th June with 2 other friends. Great bar, busy with the darts team onThursday night, good atmosphere All the staff are very friendly. Breakfast was very tasty and set us up for the day. We would stay here again. A very professional attractive hotel in Kingston. Wishes we had booked here ,we were relocated from another accomodation. Stepping through the doorut to as very peaceful welcoming. Staff excellent caring. Room location perfect. Thank you to all the lovely staff both late evening morning,A great example of how hospitality should be
Extremely disappointing pizza. The menu claims that it is ‘hand made’ but ‘assembled with the cheapest ingredients from the cash and carry’ would be more accurate. What I got was a ready made base smeared with tomato purée, no pizza herbs and what looked and tasted like the torn up fragments of a cheese slice.
Sunday Carvery was fantastic beautifully cooked meat, tasty vegetables. We arrived at 12 when they opened without having booked but they were happy to let us have a table as long as we finished by 1.30 which was no problem at all. Very helpful staff, friendly chef who cooked my friend a vegetable wellington.
Newly renovated Inn, rooms small but nicely appointed, comfortable beds. Our room was directly over the pub but the noise level was not so loud as to interfere with our sleep. Excellent breakfast!

Fantastic homemade steak pie. And pizza. 10/10. Thoughally recommend a visit. We'll done, lovely friendly staff too. Hope to return one day for another pie..
