My family and I stopped at Strikes Café for a quick lunch while traveling north. It was recommended by a family friend and we were pleased with our experience. Although there was a long line, it was expected for a lunchtime visit to a café at a garden center. This gave us time to choose our cakes, which was a nice bonus. I visited the restaurant on the day of their Christmas Event. When I arrived at 3:45, I inquired about booking a table for the 4pm meal. I was informed that there was no need to book, and was instructed to join the small queue. Despite only three people ahead of me, I was abruptly told by a young lady that the meal service did not start until 4pm. The senior lady at the till was nearby but did not intervene in the unpleasant exchange. While I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant, the service at the till was disappointing. Unfortunately, this incident will make it my last visit to this establishment.
We came here on a Sunday for two meals whilst visiting the garden centre. The queue was exceptionally long with no organisation, mainly delayed by people ordering hot drinks. Why not have one person taking orders and continuously serving whilst others prepare hot drinks and customers move to the side. Anyway, my food was actually ok (fish gouging sandwich). My mum had the roast beef and we contemplated seeing if the garden centre had any saws for sale to help her get through it. Tables were not regularly cleared, toilets were a mess. Overall a disappointing experience.
I went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch, which my family usually enjoys as a treat every two months. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has decreased this time. The roast beef was chewy, thinly sliced, and clumped together, unlike the thick slices we used to love. It seems that they are cutting costs and compromising on quality. The staff were okay, but the Sunday lunch now costs £12.95 per person. I am very disappointed and do not plan on returning.

Excellent Service from the Staff behind the counter and their Smiles Brightened a miserable rainy day. The Gardener’s Breakfast was brought immediately and the quality and presentation was as usual ‘hot and extremely tasty’ . Excellent value for money in this day and age when there are price rises every day. It is a treat for us when we go to Strikes at Northallerton and we have never been disappointed! Thank You.
Just had a family high tea at Strikes restraraunt in Stokesley.It was fabulous.. Sandwiches lovely and fresh.Scones with clotted cream and jam , delicious.Lots of small tasty cakes.So much food we had to have a box to take some home.Staff were lovely and accommodating to.No wonder it's so popular on a rainy miserable day.We are already planning another family visit there
This is a large cafe with indoor and outdoor seating at the back of the large Strikes garden centre. There is a good selection of food hot and cold and drinks. We had soup, jacket potato with cheese and beans, a few slices of cake between us. Although it was busy, service was quick and all of the food very good and fair value.

Very clean and spacious with experienced staff. Lovely food and relaxing atmosphere. We go here as often as we can, sharp contrast to many other cafes at the moment. Full breakfast or just a cuppa and cake and lovely Sunday lunches. Leisurely stroll around the shop and garden centre. Very relaxing break and well worth a visit.
Darlington Town mission friends and volunteers came to the cafe for hot drinks and cake on an afternoon visit. We were given a designated seating area and were so well looked after. We all can't wait to comeback again.
