Nice little pub, loads of staff on at busy times so service is still quick. Friday/Saturday nights usually have a DJ on playing either wedding function room songs or straight to mad wigan pier tunes. Always busy on the weekend and good mix of people. Also they have updated all their televisions and projectors. Everything is now crystal clear for all the sports which is amazing. If I am down these ways on weekends I tend to watch the football here. Also the toilets got done up a while back and are much nicer. Only reason for 4 stars is it is expensive. Probably similar price to other locals here, but still costs more than most places in town (Liverpool). Also sadly no cask ale offered at this...
Popped in on our way back to our hotel we could have sat outside in the beer garden but it was a bit smokey. Went inside 3 or 4 different rooms to choose from. The main room/bar had a live DJ which was quite loud so we went into one of the side rooms to chat. Comfy chairs and we could hear the music at a comfortable level. Quite busy but plenty of seating. Drinks were a reasonable price and the usual choice.
We arrived at this restaurant around 1:40 PM only to find the doors closed. We returned later in the afternoon and found the doors open. The bartender was still wearing his coat, which made sense once we sat down and realized it was freezing cold inside. There was no heating in the pub at all. We quickly finished our drinks and decided to leave.
I went to this restaurant for a drink with friends, and to put it bluntly, it was a bad experience. The staff was extremely rude, the drinks were overpriced, and I felt uncomfortable sitting down because it seemed like people were constantly watching one of the many TVs mounted above the seats. We sat outside and enjoyed a pint on a beautiful day. The restaurant had plenty of outdoor seating, but overall the experience was mediocre and we likely won't be returning.
big pub worked here for ten years bar kitchen . not as it was, but never a boring night. always. worth an hour or 3
