Hi thanks for looking after us last night. The food and drink were fine. Pies great, chips ok. Interesting beer. Contactless ordering worked fine although mobile phone reception is only g3. Nice evening. If I could comment on your virus precautions, I felt there were...groups of customers who were not helpful. Can I suggest some changes: Generally: 1) a clear sign at least on entry from the street or garden that says wear your masks at all times when not seated. Better for everyone. People were unmasked and crowding round the bar at times. Not good for your staff. Toilets: you had done well in theory, but customers need to change their behaviour. People were pushing through to use the toilet...
Dropped in for lunch just before Christmas to be greeted with an amazingly beautiful display of lights and Christmas decorations: must be the best in Oxford. As we were early we got the table by a roaring fire which made it even more Christmassy. Great...selection of drinks and the well trained staff knew exactly what I wanted when I ordered a ginger beer shandy (bitter and ginger beer, not lemonade) in of course a glass with a handle. My wife's mulled wine was first class. Lunch was scampi for my wife with chips and salad and a huge portion at that. I opted for the turkey and cranberry pie which was one of the best I have tasted. Popped in with family for a quick Xmas drink and was pleasantly surprised at the stunningly beautiful decorations all around the pub, probably the best I have ever seen. The rooms also smelt very festive with all the pine branch decorations throughout, no stale beer...smell here. Ordered the hot spiced apple with rum and it was very tasty and a decent glass full at that, other festive drinks included mulled wine and hot buttered rum punch. One note for the manager is the ladies toilet was very dark as no obvious light switch in there, proved quite testing! I visited this pub today in Jericho and was very disappointed with the bar staff and service. The guy behind the bar I believe was called Oscar, he was very rude when I trying to order drinks! He only wants to serve food customers and...looked straight past me when I was trying to order drinks! He didn’t even consider asking who was next to be served! I found this very rude and off putting! Also the tables are not cleaned fast enough. Some tables would sit there empty for quite a while. first time, great personal, at least again on the day. this place is something of an institution, they serve a fair selection of beer and apple wines and have excellent pie and chips. with a great selection to choose from in relation to cake. really. beautiful garden back. all round one of the best pubs in oxford. Go in a few pints!
I just asked for drinks before it restaurant. well organized for covid. signed for track and track. drinks ordered by the app on the assigned table. beautiful candle light atmosphere
Lovely quaint little place and great garden. Delicious homemade pies and cocktails. Brilliant and efficient service from Sonya made everything a lot easier! Will be back soon!

Classic Oxford pub. We really enjoyed hanging out here. Excellent beer and good to great pub food. Often busy, but friendly and efficient staff.
