I loved The Whelk along The Saugatuck Rivet. The menu was very creative. I started with Deviled Eggs and Fried Oysters. They were delicious and our waiter said they were voted the #1 appetizer of any restaurant in Connecticut! My husband had for his appetizer: Octopus with potatoes, olives, paprika, garlic aioli. We both ordered the Halibut, with peas, onions, and lettuce gem. Since it was my birthday we ordered an olive cake with cherries, but it was heavy, and made me feel too stuffed. I was hoping they had a light mousse or creme brulee, but on the whole, their creative menu and drinks were great. Incredible dishes. Fantastic Variations and unique preparations. Here the seafood taste so fresh and tender. Delicious. We had oysters, shrimp and a whole grilled octopus. Perfect. At weekends you have to reserve the tables two weeks in advance. But there are some tables with Barockern, indoors and out, can not be reserved. Here you can always get a seat if you wait a bit. Outside there is also a bit quieter than inside. Recommended!
Good service. Well priced food considering the area. Went on a weekend for lunch and there was barely anyone there. The burratta with pistachios and olives was particularly good. We also ate the crab toast which was good but nothing out of this world. We got a nice portion of fries to share as well. Overall really satisfying experience but not over the top or spectacular .
