I have read the latest reviews of this hotel/restaurant that differ from excellent to poor. it is hard to make a judge if the reviews are so inseparable. However, there were some recurring observations in the reviews that were the high prices and small piece sizes. Despite these points, I booked a group for a Sunday dinner. the restaurant is brightly spacious. we had three different waiting staff at our table and the service varied from attentive cheerful, perfunctory efficiently to essentially indifferent. I guess the meal times are similar distributed based on the different comments around the table. I have supported my review exclusively on the meal that is served me. at $38 I ordered the...

Would have given 5 stars if not for portion sizes. Came here on a packed Saturday night. Service was faultless. Ordered the main course scallops for hubby and I to share as an entree. At $34 you only get 6 scallops and a little rocket! Totally shocked at this outrageous pricing! Hubby had the fillet Mignon and I had the risotto. Both dishes were small. A friend had the duck and it was exquisite, but again on the small side. Chocolate pudding for dessert was a delicious way to end the meal. The Malvern Hotel is a lovely pub but has Toorak prices and plate sizes. When your husband has to get a Quarter Pounder on the way home from a pub meal you know portions were not up to scratch. It...read m...

3.5 Best spot in the whole place? The couch by the fireplace. Warm, cosy and intimate. I met up with my work colleagues here for drinks and nibbles, and we weren't interested in budging from our spot the whole time! Staffs were lovely, and kept the fire going for us the whole time. We ordered a few dishes to share, and Turkish Tasting Plate didn't disappoint. The lamb kofta, and the dolmades possessed great flavours, and while the capsicum dip fell a bit flat, the hummus made up for it. The Salt Pepper Calamari was a bit soft, but was very well-seasoned. The fries were not very crunchy too, which was quite a shame as I love my fries. Definitely couldn't fault the Cheese Plate, the...read mor...

Inevitably readers will wish to compare the Malvern hotel with the Malvernvale Hotel, one block further on. The Malvern presents more like a restaurant, wooden floors, designer chairs and optional eating areas (one room has a fire). Lots of waiting staff in trendy leather aprons. The menu is comprehensive and pricey with some cheaper options. Plus table service for food and drink. I had the Barramundi which was good but their were many more gourmet style choices. Coffee was good, wine by the glass over the top. Service was overattentive, but it was a quiet night. Customers seemed to be locals and affluent. Somewhat younger than Malvernvale. Essentially I found the striving and...read more Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

very RUDE/RACIST staff and extremely bad service for tonight. standing in front of the employees and trying to get a table, 2-3 of them simply passed by without gruß or eye contact at all. I thought they were busy, so they waited with geduld. I finally realized that they only ignore me. I told an old guy after he finished his call that I was hoping to get a table for a few drinks. he led me, but halfway started to serve other customers and just left me. how reddish! I've been in this pub a couple times since it's in the ground next to my house and the service was good. I fingured bacuz I always came here with my white friends, but...read more

The Malvern Hotel has a nice fit-out, is bright and modern and interestingly has history in one of the tables that was the original cellar door. We enjoyed our choice of dishes, especially the Moreton Bay Bug risotto. Having viewed their menu online, the risotto was actually the reason we chose to dine there! Service was disappointing as there was a distinct lack of enthusiasm from one of the wait staff and the audible response from another, dealing with a difficult patron, was not only unacceptable but highly unprofessional.

called for lunch and was greeted and sitting on a beautiful table, the waiter was great, friendly and helpful! good selection of foods that they can choose together with beer and wine. I had the barramundi, which was cooked nicely, but on the small side! Great place that is worth a visit!

Really like this place. The food is always outstanding but it is very pricy for what it is but if that’s not an issue, would recommend it. Good spot next to the fire place in winter
