The Wingfield Arms

Perhaps the owners are new and they still try to be established. we were the only diners who had the lunchtime. the eating seems to be bought in and contain of chips and frozen hen. the fish, gammon and sampi were boiled over and the teig on the fish was soggy. it was served on cold plates. I should have said something at that time, but it was a socially acceptable one, and I couldn't make myself complain. two days later we had in a pub less than 10 miles away at lunchtime, where the food was excellent, but the price was equal. I notice that the wingfield arms also make a Sunday dinner, maybe that's better.

Food fresh and tasty, only downside was the chicken and leek pie came with a Beef gravy . Which as I don't eat red meat ,I didn't want beef gravy on white meat. Once pointed out, I was offered a red wine gravy instead, of which I declined. Otherwise food lovely . Service good.

they didn't have what we wanted on the menu. the service was very slow, it took an hour 30 minutes for a main course and a pudding. eating seemed expensive for what we had and small portions. there are better places to eat.

A lovely setting by the river with ample dining space. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a good selection despite a changeover of menu meant some dishes were unavailable. The meals were a good size and delicious!

I've eaten here twice and on both occasions the staff have been extremely helpful and courteous. The food is cooked from fresh but you still don't have to wait to long, nothing is too much trouble.
