They say looks can be deceiving and WOW. This old bar does not disappoint. What an eclectic down to earth place. Art and posters done the walls of this 100 year old pub. The welcoming vibe and easy going staff are polite and friendly, looking the part in this space that encompasses music, art and culture combined with everyday life. Great beers, Absolutely beautiful food and a massive selection of entertainment scheduled through out the week. This place was buzzing on a Tuesday night I can only imagine how slammed it would be on a Friday or Saturday night. This gem of a place is a must if you like kicking back with friends and enjoying good company, food and music. 10/10
Some 40 years ago I was afraid to enter the pub here (The Rob Roy) as it was well known for violence. However, the Workers Club is very friendly. The staff are very approachable and helpful and even gave me a free beer when my lunch was about 2 minutes late in arriving. I chose from the $10 lunch special menu (so the dishes are about half price). I had a cheese burger and chips and the quality was very good and the quantities were sufficient. Worth coming back to try the vegan and vegetarian options next time.
Nice relaxed pub in Fitzroy- corner of Gertrude and Brunswick Streets. There's a large tv in the dining room area where football is often on, along with a bunch of locals watching and cheering on their team. Meals served- typical pub fare. There's a band room too- unfortunately the band hadn't started when I was there. I believe there's an outdoor area at the back but I didn't get there either.
Wonderful venue, great vibe, delicious pub fare coupled with outstanding staff and management. A slight, and I do mean slight mishap with one of our parmas. Hey, these things happen. The kind manager not only replaced it as promptly as possible, but gave us a round of drinks and them some. Now that's hospitality and service. Unfortunately our beers were cleaned off the table while we went outside for 5 mins. Beers were full and bar was not busy. When we came back we asked for a replacement but were told by the nanny at the bar 'you should have placed these coasters hiding at the bar on the top of the beers '. They could have handled it better. We didn 't do anything malicious.
Great place for a beer. Had some sour beers on tap which was nice. Bit of a rabbit Warren of rooms... Outdoor bit was nice until the rain set in. I was there on a Wed afternoon so it was a bit quiet. Would likely return for a meal one evening in 2022
We looked in the door and the bar seemed average. But it was hot and we needed a beer. Picked up the beer from the bar and looked about, found a really cool area out the back, all a bit rugged but very comfortable. Enjoyed the beer and the visit.
My husband and I had two great pub lunches here: friendly service, quality food, delicious craft beers and overall an unpretentious vibe. This would easily be my local if I lived nearby! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
